first of all nice work to all involved biggrin.gif

I have patched the game and burnt the gentoo live cd, everything seems to work great, you can see the penguins on the top of the screen and linux loading up then when it seems like its done it says thank you for using Gentoo Linux and does nothing else. If i leav it like that after 5 mins or more the screen goes black....

Am I missing something????

QUOTE(noonespecial @ Mar 30 2007, 12:11 PM) View Post

I dont actually get to boot in to gentoo, it goes all through the process of loading up with all the ok's to the right of the screen but it dont load up a desktop or anything. I just get the writting at the bottom saying if you have any problems using gentoo then report it the exact same way or something to that effect, then at the very bottom it says thank you for using gentoo..

I still have the penguins at the top of the screen. It then sits there then after 5-10 mins not actually timed it to be honest then the screen goes black....

Not sure why i dont seem to be able to fully boot it unless im totally missing something.

I thought i would at least have a desktop lol.....

Kernal: 4532
ODD: Hitachi 47dj + xtreme 2.2

Works perfect. Really interesting stuff. I got the linux kernal to boot with the modified king kong iso + shader.bin. And from what i'm reading above this minimal version does include a GUI. I'm not good with linux but I just plugged in my USB keyboard and tried punching in commands but just kept getting bad command. Keyboard works perfect! The screenshots of Linux of the 360 are displaying it with the GUI so is there any way I could add it to the live cd?

Congrats and kudos to all the people that made the "impossible" torch.gif "possible"

send the modded xell loader via serial

it has a delay because it waits for an input from the user to select tftp or cd

It works flawless. My only question is I don't have an HD TV any reason why (or way to fix) it's almost like the desktop is too big for my tv and i can't see the sides/top/bottom. I'm assuming it's just this or VGA? Anyone have this problem and/or a fix for this?

Yes, you need a HDTV or a monitor.

Edit: Have you read the pinned http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=595902 and http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=595543 ?

Yeah, as burgerbee was pointing out, I think most of us are running Ubuntu now instead, at least I am. Running it off the HDD beats a Live disc any day  smile.gif

Also the minimal doesn't have a desktop and requires a serial port to use, so a lil dated now that we can do it all from disc.

I only want to backup the CPU key, ect..., what I am looking for in a "minimal" linux is no need for keyboard, ect, just load kk exploit, put in linux disc, linux is loaded and gets all the keys, dumps, ect and puts them on either the HD or a USB keydrive without any user interface via keyboard or any nonsense. Is there anything close to this?
