Is Dashboard Update Require To Connect To Live?

I am having dashboard D:2.0.8955.0 - K:2.0.8955.0 (BK:2.0.1888.0). I am unable to connect to live. When I try to connect it says I have to update dashboard. My status code is like this

W 0000 000B
X 0000 F001
Y 20A8 4860
Z 8015 1918
ID FFFF FFFF

XBOX is not flashed. I do not want to update dashboard. Just wanted to know do I need to update dashboard to connect to LIVE. If not then what do I need to do?

Yes, you need to update your dashboard if you want to connect to LIVE.

no. you MUST have the most recent dash to connect to live.
