According to a notice on the Amazon.com website, Xbox Live Arcade game codes for specific Xbox 360 downloads will no longer be sold through the online retailer.

The notice further informs users that Xbox Live points can still be purchased on Amazon.com, and that these can be used with your Xbox 360 console to purchase any of the games that were previously available.

The Amazon store offered consumers the advantage of buying games using exact money -- and sometimes at Amazon-specific discounts -- rather than purchasing them using a Point system as in the Live Arcade interface.

Why are they stopping this service when Gamestop is just beginning as well?

Never saw the point in this as they almost never lowered the prices, while at the same time selling 1600 points cards for $16.

They were their own fiercest competitor.

agreed. they did the same thing with live subscriptions. it would be $30 for a one  year card ON amazon, and on that same page, there would be a link that said "buy an online code for 1 year of xbox live for $50".

they offer no incentive for people to get the digital distribution.

Aww I liked skipping the points system.  I hate having extra points for stuff.  Somehow I end up with 301 which is annoying.
