Restoring Functionality To Banned Consoles
« on: December 04, 2009, 08:26:00 PM »

A friend just told me today that he read about how you can restore some of the functionality to a banned console (media center, downloading XBLA games, etc.). I told him that's the biggest load of **** I've heard of in a long time.

Are we in agreement with calling this guy a moron?

For a more realistic approach, has anyone looked into modifying the TCP traffic in real-time before it reaches M$ to spoof another console's ID? If they're smart, it's encrypted... but worth a shot!

yea, we can alter tcp/ip packets... All you have to do is figure out how to decrypt the data.  As for restoring functionality..once your banned, your banned; however, there is a way to restore your security certificate on the xbox itself so you can use your hard drive to install games on again, media center functionality, and make it no longer corrupt game saves and live profile.

Just read about restoring HDD functionality by messing with the NAND, but didn't see much about Media Center...

Screw it. Time to crack it open! I'll pop out the CPU/NAND and wait patiently for a replacement...

I'll buy an RROD console for a beer... anyone?

Let us know how "popping" the cpu out goes.  Maybe you can install a ZIF slot for it when you do so you can just "pop" the new CPU in.

Appreciate the sarcasm. No, I actually have the tools to safely remove and reball BGA chips at work. Installing a ZIF socket would be funny, though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif).

I tip my hat to the people who have had the balls (or money) to figure this stuff out. If I had more free time, I'd use my resources to help contribute more to the community, rather than leech knowledge as much as I admittedly have.

Damn recession has me working more (unpaid) overtime than ever.

And yet none of this has anything to do with XBL!
