My 54420 Box Got Unbanned?

God, when are people going to see, that 54420 error, blank pages, etc. -- Is no way a legit way to check if your ban or not.

The poor little xbox.com webserver/database, can not handle 600K+ people logging in to try to send in their banned console, along with 2 million or so reading this thread, trying to request a repair to see if they are banned or not.

I bet within a few days, M$ will either takedown the whole online "request a repair" or start banning gamertags that hammer or fraudly "request" repairs for known banned consoles, or various other reasons.

They could claim you are trying to hack their service or system, by causing overload in their warranty/repair service, and just BAN YOUR ASS TOTALLY!

(Just my random thoughts of the night)

I believe this is called a DoS (Denial of Service) attack.

Yet they are completely wrong, the repair request TELLS you pretty much that you are banned, MS themselves state on their banwave FAQ that anyone banned cannot request a REPAIR even for a FEE, aka YOU can't even pay them to take your banned **** for repairs, don't talk about what you do not know.

I was talking about the fact that some people are reporting this error, then next minute or two later, not getting an error, but blank page, or next minute or two getting warranty info.

I am just randoming thinking that M$ little webbox might not be able to always handle the server load, with all these million's of modded consoles, trying to see if they are banned or not using the "request" a repair.

I am sure M$ will soon resolve this, by either taking the feature offline or improving it.\

I know you can't request a repair or even pay for them, that is the price you pay for modding your console.

What could they possibly determine from somebody filling out a repair request form but not actually completing?

Sure they will be able to query their database and see who has not completed but where do they go from there?

Seriously think about it for a second, you will quickly realise nothing/nowhere.

Well for one thing?

To request a repair, you need to be logged into your LIVE Gamertag! Right?

Next you need to select your matching console by serial number! Right?

If M$ looks into their error logs, and sees person "IaMaBadApple", and they tried to "request" a repair,
lets say about hundred times in an hour for a know banned box, they might decide this person is doing
a DOS attack on their server, etc. and ban their "Gamertag" also.

Just a friendly warning, that's all.

Oh come on seriously, now it is in the realms of make believe senarios who is going to bother doing that.  Chances are you fill it out you see the page.  If you decide to check back it will in noway be in the numbers you are talking about.

It is just not realistic.

Registered and checked my console (1.51 Hitachi 59) yesterday and received the 54420 error when I tried to request support.  It had remained unbanned through the ban wave, and I was checking it daily.  Last night, I flashed back to original firmware after reading this thread.

I put in a few retail games and left the console on and connected to live through the night.  Today I have been turning the console on and off, while swapping retail games and booting them.  I was still receiving the 54420 error.

About an hour ago, I turned on my console, and the profile auto-signed in, but it didn't connect to Live.  I tried connecting, and sure enough, the ban message had popped up.

I just wish I had left my box offline and modded, so I could install games and saves would not get corrupted.

Normally not, but we are talking about upset x360 owners, the same ones maybe that decide to call and threaten an xbox live employee.

When we are dealing with x360, M$, 20 million users playing make believe games, nothing is "realistic"!

They are if you transfer them from banned to unbanned.  Same with Xbox Live accounts.  You have to recover it if you use it on a banned console.  Therefore, achievements on a banned console will never end up on Xbox Live.

Edit: I looked around.  I guess the save itself doesn't corrupt, just the gamertag.

Everyone, I've had a brutal couple of days at work and haven't been online at all, didn't even come home last night, pulled a 40-hour shift (double sux cause I had MW2 in my car waiting to play).  Anyway, I haven't turned on the 360 since Monday but I just checked my online status, and that 360 is back to showing the 54420 error.  What really confuses me is I still am back to stock FW, so why did the flag clear and then come back?  Maybe it's all just a random screw-up on my particular record or something.

Needless to say, I'm back to thinking I'm flagged for a ban, and I wish I'd never posted my experience, seeing how it may have encouraged some of you guys to take a chance.

Looks like Microsoft has won this round big time.

The only thing that sucks for an offline xbox is you won't be able to get achievements that require xbox live.

I have registered all the consoles in my family, under my name and account.

my original banned unit, now sitting at a friends for his 12 yo who is not allowed online- 54420 error
My current Xbox-modded  -54420 error
My mom's Xbox- not modded, replaced w/ new console by M$ after rrod repair- 54420 error
My friends xbox-modded-54420 error
My other friends xbox- not modded- able to submit repair

Outside of the one they replaced, The 54420 error seems to fit.  Could I have gotten one back that the previous owner flashed then un-flashed?

This is all crazy, but one thing is for certain, My mom's was never modded and now it needs repair again.  I guess I have to call in.
