My 54420 Box Got Unbanned?
« Reply #60 on: November 10, 2009, 09:25:00 PM »

Just to add a little thought to some of this restoring firmware, as it was something I was considering doing myself with my 1 remaining currently unbanned (well last time of checking anyway) console, although I would have to spoof a drive as it is a liteon, which wouldnt be a problem as I have a banned consoles drive I can use, but went and bought another console yesterday anway so I am undecided yet if I will or not.

Anyway, for this restoring back to original firmware we are basically assuming that the console is indeed making some sort of checks against the system how and what checks we dont know but the deciding factor is that only original firmware will pass.

There are a couple of senarios around this, they could be queued up checks that are initiated remotely or they are done locally on the console and stored.  If they are indeed done locally and stored then it might be worthwhile not connecting back to xbl until a good number of hours after playing an original or several game(s) on stock firmware to allow the local storage to update with good results, then allowing for this data to be published to xbl.

I would suggest it cannot do any harm doing the above, and even if they are done remotely it still might use some local store it requests the results from.

One thing is that the sample is far too small to draw any conclusions from, I hope more will try this method.  One success and one ban is nothing to make of just yet too many presumptions as too the reasons.

Just tried the link myself on my modded 1.61 Benq and got the 54420 error.

Hoping this isn't a legit method for testing if you're "flagged" but it's looking like it is.

You need to have the console registered on an account. You can't just use a link and change the serial number in it.

So, if we're flagged, we should unmod?

And dare reconnect back to live and play a bit of retail and hope to get unflagged..

I did it yesterday afternoon and haven't been unflagged so far, I am waiting til tomorrow noon and hope that they took me off the list, I doubt it'll work for me but if I am not unflagged I won't be taking this 360 back online since it'll just get ban hammered eventually and soon rather than later.

Toddler got really lucky it seems ;p , i'm sure he'll update all of us in the coming days if anything changes for him.

@DiscoveryX360:
How are you flagged? Did you register you console AND get the 54420 error, or just used a direct link to repair the console with the serial?

Ban wave first hit close to me when my mate got banned and he did what I told him..following the 'rules'. I checked using the connect to live with no HDD test, said I was fine and not banned. Was able to lodge an online repair.

I did not connect to live (or even use the 360) until tonight...whereby I restored to stock and tried to connect (no disk in drive)...BANNED! So in conclusion I was flagged after Oct28 sometime.

Lads I suspect that there is prob too many console to ban at once and the waves are still coming...watch it  ph34r.gif

Registered and clicked request repair, still get the error.

Hi guys -been reading & felt I HAD TO share this with you all.
My Xbox is well over three years of age & out of warranty.Tried the tecnique with registering & trying to send it in for RROD repair & all I got was it was out the 3 year warranty so got a page with credit card details ect.
I have played umpteen games early tho not online, but have went live with certain games acheivements, the thing is I havent been "Live" for about two & a half weeks playing games except for briefly signing in when streaming movies then disconnecting.
A right few of my pals have been done-all their boxes were in the 3 YR warranty schedule.
I just signed in again expecting the ban & did the connection test & got
Z:0000 00000
Never seen this before anywhere, so signed out again.
What do you think & Im game to be a guinea pig for "testing reasons" as I have alrady decided to get an new Elite.

I tried three of my consoles (one banned, one modded but last on Live months ago, and another unmodded); each gets me to the page that requests "Please enter a brief description of your problem or additional details you wish to include for your repair request."

Any ideas why my banned 360 says Warranty Status: Standard Warranty Expired and appears to allow me to submit it for repair?

Are you using a local support site rather than the US one nailed?

Doh, I was... showing 54420 now.  Thanks.  So would local support actually take a banned 360?

Don't know if its relevant, but I live in the US.  I wonder what would happen if I submitted the banned 360 for RROD repair.

xbox.com seems to having some issues.  Most of the time I am getting blank pages when I try to check my repair status or warranty status.

God, when are people going to see, that 54420 error, blank pages, etc. -- Is no way a legit way to check if your ban or not.

The poor little xbox.com webserver/database, can not handle 600K+ people logging in to try to send in their banned console, along with 2 million or so reading this thread, trying to request a repair to see if they are banned or not.

I bet within a few days, M$ will either takedown the whole online "request a repair" or start banning gamertags that hammer or fraudly "request" repairs for known banned consoles, or various other reasons.

They could claim you are trying to hack their service or system, by causing overload in their warranty/repair service, and just BAN YOUR ASS TOTALLY!

(Just my random thoughts of the night)
