I've seen a couple different people ask this.

console 1 is modded, but NOT banned.  Play games on this machine.

console 2 is unmodded, new, clean and fresh.  Take HDD you just used on console 1 and put it in console 2.

Will achievements you got on console 1 count?  Will things corrupt?  Will M$ be able to tell what you are doing?

My friends and I had a big achievement contest going.  Once you get over losing masses of easy achievements, only playing a few online games and then everything else for free and offline isn't a big deal to me, but my friends who haven't gotten banned yet are wondering if this is possible.

Maybe someone should give this a try and see how it works.

Thanks to anyone who knows.

Thanks for posting this, I made a similar post in other threads. Most people seem to think there should be no problem by doing this as long as your modded is unbanned.  Looking forward to others opinions.

Here are some quotes I gathered regarding this topic.

"I have 2 360s, 1 modded 1 not-modded. The modded one last connected to Live on Oct 30, but when the bannings started I unplugged it permanently. I suspect the modded one is banned, but I haven't connected it to Live to find out (and never will). So far I have been able to plug my HDD in the modded one then when I want to play online I swap the HDD to the unmodded. No corruption or anything (yet), and I can still upload achievements. So it works.

Whether it's safe or not, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be - the console that does connect to live is 100% legit so I don't see how they could ban it."

"You'll be perfectly fine, it's only the banning that kills things on the hard drive. If you're modded but not banned you're perfectly fine swapping it between systems even if the only thing you use that method for is to update your gamerscore online haha."

I figured there's a lot of people in this situation, and this question definitely seemed to warrant it's own discussion.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

And to further the question, no information is stored on the HDD that is "not wanted"? Only simple profiles, game saves, etc?

How would this work with downloaded content and arcade stuff?

Agreed. This may be a good solution for a lot of people out there. I don't know why more people aren't discussing this.

The only thing I can think of that will cause a problem is maybe games saves and achievements that appear on the HDD pre release?

Just don't play em early still.  I thought this was a rule anyway.

Its a rule I stuck by when I was avoiding getting a BAN but now with a modded console that is not connected to Live anymore I don't know if it matters as much. Maybe use a memory card for pre release play to keep the HDD happy?

Aaaahhhh. I didnt think of that. You are right. I am going to be playing everything the day it appears online.  I guess those of us with the shame of being banned can play stuff right away, and those who have the honor of M$ allowing them to stay online will have to wait to play their pirated games.   jester.gif

From another thread

"i think as long as your older console has never been 'officially' banned, then all your saves, achievements and what not will continue to work just fine between the two unbanned consoles (old / new). trouble comes in when you try to use a banned console for offline play for saves, achievements, etc and then move those to an unbanned console. your profile will appear corrupted on the unbanned console.

so again, as long as your old console has never been 'officially' banned, your profiles should work fine between the old (unbanned) and the new (unbanned) console. i think it's the dlc content that is tied to individual consoles."

People could buy 2 new consoles, MOD 1 for offline and use the other STOCK for Live.
Put the hdd on the modded that is offline and rack up achievments then take that same hdd to the STOCK and update the profile.

AND TOSS YOUR BANNED xbox 360.

What about this:

1 Banned Console and 1 New Console.

Disgard the HDD that was used on the banned 360. Recover the profile on the New 360 with the new HDD. Take the new HDD to the banned offline console, rack up achievements, then put it back on the New 360.

Can MS tell that this new HDD was put on a Banned Console once you put it back on the New 360?

I want to say the banned 360 corrupts the files.. but not 100% sure.

Excellent topic, if anything this is an excellent enticing reason to NOT log into live if you've verified via xbox 360 repair site that you seem to be banned and get yourself a new 360 unbanned console box for the games you DO want to play legit on live.

Can more people post their opinions on this topic? Does anyone see any risks involved in swapping the HDD between a NON banned modded console for offline play and a legit system for online play.

here is how I phrased the question in another thread

"I disconnected my NOT banned modded 360 and purchased an Arcade 360 which I plan to use on Live and it will never be modded. Can I just swap my HDD between them? Lets say I want to play my backup of a single player game on my NOT banned modded 360. I save games and get achievements. Then I plug that same HDD into my stock 360 and play a retail online multiplayer game. Does anyone see any risk in this?"
