I've got 2 xboxes, one modified (unbanned and disconnected from network) and one genuine, I would like to use one hard drive between them with my profile.

The only thing I'm concerned about is the fact I have several backups installed to the HDD, I'm just curious as to whether these installed games can be detected when I plug the HDD into my genuine xbox and go online with retail games?

Why would you install the backups to the HDD and not the originals??

I doubt anyone knows the answer to this just yet. Just like modding, take the risk, or dont do it.

You could also remove those installs if you're too worried.

Hi I just wanna say that this topic is awsome! xD

I have read and understood everything about swapping hdd's except one thing. On my first console that's modded but NOT banned, I bought several DLC's and some arcade games. And my question is: Would I be able to swap the Hdd from my first 360 to my second one, which is un-modded and connected to XBL, and still be able to play the DLC and arcade games on my second console. Or is the downloads "bound" to the buyers console?
if it is, is there a way to change the owner forom my first 360 to my second without risking a ban.

Sorry for bad English, I'm still just learning. xD

Thnx // Nanoteck

Hi there, Great topic by the way guys.
What I’m wondering is I've got a 360 #1 is flashed with i-extreme 1.6 and unbanned, not been connected to live since the 4th of November.

I’ve got a 2nd 360 elite on its way to me now but could be another week or two (which is going to be kept unflashed for online play). So I’m planning on doing the HDD swap between them, Well I’m bored of my old games and have all these new wave 4 games that I can’t play.

What I want to know is if it’s safe to play games like Tekken 6, Modern Warfare 2 and Assassins Creed 2 on my flashed 360 using the activate.iso boot disk for offline single player play then swap HDD to new console when it arrives for online play then back to flashed console for single play.

the worst they can do is reset your game score which they don't seem to be doing at min with people doing this
you get 3 warning i think  with gs before they ban another console .iv been doing it with my banned one and the corrupt profile method fix
myself i woldent use that boot disk now mind myself i don't trust it as i say to the voices in my head daily yes i am paranoid..

Here's what happened to my systems.

360 Arcade with the Lite-On drive running ixtreme 1.6, onboard 256M memory and 120GB HD.  Saved my Live profile to the onboard memory and games to the hard drive.  Played Modern Warfare 2, purchased from Target, and got at least 6 achievements before I was banned.  Booted up and copied my profile to the hard drive along with themes.  Proceeded to delete 3 games I installed to HD which were MW2, Halo 3 and Halo ODST (all actual retail copies).

Purchased new Elite system, not planning on modding at all, placed old hard drive into this system and attempted to retrieve profile from the HD.  System reported the profile was corrupted and could not be retrieved.  Had to log into Live and download it that way.  Started MW2 and showed I didn't get any achievements and needed to restart the game.

Now, everything is fine with the Elite system and I'm on Live without any issues.

Umm I had NO problems taking my drive from my banned xbox to my cousins Non modded xbox and it logged into live and saved my acheivements with no problems. However my cousin brought a memory card to my banned xbox we played some borderlands and when he got home to put his profile back on his non modded box it was corrupted along with his game save.

I like to add that this is no longer valid for me. I didnt realise I hadn't accessed any game saves since I was banned so Naturally this worked. Once my profile and gamesaves have been accessed after my ban, taking to a non banned xbox shows my game saves and profile as corrupt. However taking it back to my banned xbox they show up and work fine. I can continue playing games where I left off and everything. M$ I guess is just making everything on your HDD "Apear" corrupt on a non banned system but its not actually corrupt.

So, like alot of other people here, I've got 2 consoles- 1 modified (completely offline) and 1 original- w/ auto login to Live.  I popped my HD from my unmodified console to my modified console (which, BTW hasn't been on for quite some time), and as SOON as I connected the HD and booted it up, it said update required (without even starting a game).

I checked the D/K version and have: 2.0.7371.0 (BK: 2.0.1888.0).

Should I update the unbanned modified offline console?  If so, is it OK to do it from the Hard drive, or should I put the update on a USB key and upgrade that way?

I don't think it matters, it's the same update.

So then that means, if you have a banned Xbox, then you should sell that xbox, buy 2 new xbox, use 1 harddrive, mod 1 of them xbox which you would only play single player games, get the achievements, and insert into the legit Xbox and that should update your achivements online.

Okay, this might get lengthy. I have one modded, although not officially banned console(as in I didn't see any error message yet). I am pretty damn sure that it's flagged however or may become banned as soon as I log into LIVE because not only did the Xbox play that French Halo ODST, but also the pre-release version of MW2 (and both games have created saves on the hard drive). Neither of these games, or any other backups for that matter, were played on LIVE though. Once the ODST disc was put into the Xbox, it has not been connected to LIVE at all, so like back in early September. Again, all this was done offline. Since then, I have just been running backups and used the ACTIVATE.ISO disc as well for several games.

Anywho, I got a new console recently and was wondering if I could, as the topic suggests, put my old hard drive into my new console and recover the gamertag and keep my saved game files and gamerscore and all that stuff without getting banned. I could care less for the DLC at this point, as I really don't care too much for it right now.

I know its been answered in a lot of ways, but I am just trying to confirm whether or not a possibly flagged gamertag will be banned on a new unmodified console while recovering said gamertag? Is the gamertag that is flagged, or might be flagged, going to cause issues on a brand new console? Because if it is, then I will just create a new account and carry on. However, if its safe, then I would love to transfer my saves and achievements to the new console.

Thanks for reading all that. Appreciate any response whatsoever.

Take care and happy holidays everyone!

OK so now I'm officially sad. My XBOX got banned for me being stubburn. I had 2 xboxs one modified (banned online 5440) and the other legit.

I thought I was smart and updated my modified's XBOX HD online with new gears of war 2 maps. For a while I was doing the profile on memory card and play online on legit xbox and my modified XBOX offline and got achievements.

Heres is what I think caused the banned. I played a system link GOW2 with the same Profile. I had the same Profiles <Bradley> loaded on the system link. The modified console was blocked on router to go online. The legit XBOX was logged on XBOX live but both systems were playing GOW2 on system link and both characters where <Bradley> on top.

Today I flashed my XBOX with the new 1.61 Lite on FW and when I load my legit XBOX live profile, BANNED. And that console was not logged online since Nov.

So I think either changing the Firmware did it or the time when I system linked a GOW2 game with a legit XBOX online. So i believe my legit XBOX banned my offline modfied XBOX.

Pisses me off I was hoping to play and update my profile with games i played offline on the modified console. I'm should be upset but more disappointed. Since I bought the Legit XBOX i hardly touched my modified XBOX. Been online alot but I wanted to play AC2.

So please I believe the swapping HD/profile between modified but unbanned consoles works. Just don't system link or update the HD no matter how tempted you are. Its my fault for being greedy and not share the TV screen when I played. Guess now i don't matter anymore so there ya have it.

Actually, the console didn't get banned. I did some tests and I was able to create game saves, new profiles, and move them from the modified console to legit console with the memory card. None of the data was corrupt. However, when I move my XBOX Live Profile to the modified console I get a banned message. My console ID is banned and refuses to login and the profile immediatly is corrupted.

So looks like the Console ID got reported, or added to a list when I system linked GOW2 both Legit and modified consoles. Result is I can never play my Live Profile on my modified console. It gives me a console ID banned. But any other profiles and game saves created by offline profiles are fine.

It blows. I could have played backups and achievements were my LIVE profile, but now it does not work.

Not sure if anyone else tried this but don't system link with a legit XBOX logged on LIVE. It won't ban you (I'll test HD game installs like forza tonight to make sure) but your console ID of modified XBOX will be banned from your Live profile.

I'll report more as I do research on this.
