Getting Achievements In Modded, Unbanned Xbox And Moving Hdd To Unmodd
« Reply #60 on: November 13, 2009, 09:25:00 PM »

here is my experience...

360 #1 - banned/hdd disabled/gamertag corrupt, game saves show 'unknown profile', all purchased arcade games turned to trial

360 #2 - unbanned ixtreme 1.61, not connected to live for over 2 months,  passed a repair request from xbox.com. Also keeping the top case off for easy flash access  tongue.gif

I flashed #2 back to original benq firmware. Took hdd from #1 and connected to #2. Logged into xboxlive successfully (phew!) I did gamertag recovery and put email/password but kept getting error saying 'xbox live signup currently unvailable'

So i deleted corrupt profile but kept items.. then cleared the cache (hdd options x,x, rb, lb, x, x if i remember correctly)
After that I re-entered info and got my gamertag back. All game saves now show my gamertag instead of unknown. All arcade purchases turned to full game from trial. I also confirmed any games you save AFTER you been banned will result in a corrupt gamesave. Other than that, game saves loaded fine.

So in theory I think you could rack up achievments from an unbanned flashed box then load to a retail box... but you might have to do gamertag recovery each time... not sure about gamertag/memory card as i dont have one. Also I really doubt gamesaves could record any type of data that would indicate FW or disc id info. Only risk would be timestamps on pre-release achievments....

I've been doing this. Just moving my profile using a memory unit between consoles.

Just played Tekken 6, MW2 and Ben 10 something on my probably banned 360 and no problem getting achievements over to my new unflashed 360 on Live.

That's nice to hear.. all im wondering now is if m$ could ban anyone doing that or if it doesn't really break  any of all their rules etc

So I was worried that I'd get a ban for my system.  I had an original 360 modded.  I have played backups and saved games with those backups.  I had the system rrod and it was never banned.  So I took the hard drive with me to a new arcade system.  I have been online with it many many times.  I just want to say, I haven't had a ban or corruption.  I'm just entering in this data to add to the list of different things people may wonder about.  So yes, you can hook your old hard drive off a unbanned modded one into a new one.

what about being online with one xbox and playing offline with the modded xbox?

My example - I'm online with my elite and talking to my friends in a party while playing my modded xbox and aswell getting achievements etc.. wouldn't I have to recover the gamertag everytime then on the unmodded xbox to not make it look suspicious with the gamerscore? (Meaning if I'd gone online with my modded xbox's harddrive, to update my gamerscore to something like 5650G and then after I'd go online with my same profile but on the unmodded xbox where my profile would have maybe 5300G only.. wouldn't that look bit weird to m$ then, since I then have less then what I should have according to the online servers for the profiles or w/e and the only safest way, would be then maybe to recover the GT on the unmodded xbox each time before i use the modded xbox's harddrive so I always get the gamerscore that's on the modded xbox's harddrive profile?

If your profile is recovered, you won't be able to sign in to Live on another box. If you log the mod box in to Live to update your score, you're up for a ban. But if you copy your profile via PC, then you could do what you described and your profile would update it's score. I would say that it's suspicious to be getting gamerscore on more than one 360 without recovery records. I wouldn't sign in to live on the mod box anyway and just transfer my profile to the stock box when I want to update. IE. Put the profile on a memory card and stock box's hard drive, get achievements using profile on memory card and mod box offline, disconnect stock box's hard drive, log in using memory card on stock box for score update, then pull memory card and put stock box's hard drive back; however stock box's profile will update on it's own and may still show as suspicious.

Honestly, achievements aren't worth all the hassle to me. I'm just keeping the boxes separate and will let each copy of my profile show different scores. I'm even thinking of just creating a new profile for offline use (mainly to stop the annoying "Cannot access Live" message from coming up when I log in even with the box not networked).

I was thinking of flopping a hard drive between my modded, unbanned console for single player 'backups' and a stock console that goes online for playing multiplayer w/ retail disks.  I'm concerned though my unbanned console will d/l the modded nuke trigger to the hard drive and then, when I swap the drive to my modded console, fubar it w/o it ever connecting online.

The other thing I'm tempted to do is connect my modded one to my network and disable internet access on that machine via my router's MAC filter.  My unmodded one would be connected as well and obviously permitted to to go online.

Now, with a setup like this, I could syslink the two and play on my home network.  But I'm guessing that could be very risky if one of 360's is able to go online?

console 1 is modded, but NOT banned.  Play games on this machine.

console 2 is unmodded, new, clean and fresh.  Take HDD you just used on console 1 and put it in console 2.

Now let's say I play unverified back ups or wave 3 games patched to wave 2 on console 1 in the example. Would it still be safe to move the HDD to console 2 and connect to live?

I don't think you will have any problems but no one knows for sure. I am picking up another HDD for my new 360 and plan to just swap profiles with a mem card.

if your console has never been officially banned is it as simple as unclicking the HDD and plugging in into an unmodded console, everything will run as if your first box was never banned?

Personally, I have not had this problem.  I have three Xbox's that have been banned and I have used the same HDD on all of them.  Now I have the HDD on a non-banned console and everything is fine.  Why is everyone having so much trouble?

Umm I had NO problems taking my drive from my banned xbox to my cousins Non modded xbox and it logged into live and saved my acheivements with no problems. However my cousin brought a memory card to my banned xbox we played some borderlands and when he got home to put his profile back on his non modded box it was corrupted along with his game save.

Correct.

The only thing that won't work is your installed games but this is normal as they only work on the console they were originally installed on.
