The thing I'm wondering about is copying the gamertag back and forward from an unbanned modded Xbox that never goes online to an unmodded one that does go on live. Basically the only way that you could get banned this way would be if Microsoft put code in the games to check the status of your firmware and save it to your gamertag file. I'm am hoping that they just stick to banning consoles that are modded and log on to live. I could understand if they put code in the games to check if your console was modded and block offline achievements but I think it would be a step too far if they banned every console the gamertag was copied back to.

I feel the same way. It doesn't seem like anyone who's visited this thread has tried this yet, though. I won't get the chance myself until next week. I'll let you know how it goes.

I have a question that kind of relates to this. I have a modded 360 that I think may be flagged (did the repair site error test thing) so I haven't been on live since. A patch came out for NBA 2K10 that I want but I'm afraid to try to connect to live to try to get it. So if I bought a new 360 , left it unmodded, and put my hard drive from my modded 360 on it and put a retail 2K10 in and d/l'ed the patch THEN put the hard drive back on my modded one would I be able to play a backup of 2K10 on my modded 360 with the patch?

You can EVEN use your HDD on your modded console if it has been banned!!!

BUT ONLY IF AS SOON AS YOU GET THE BAN MESSAGE YOU TURN YOUR CONSOLE OFF!

If you do this and do not start playing any games or use any saves then you can move the HDD to another console and the game saves will NOT be corrupted.

If you get banned then play a game....then ALL of yours saves will be corrupted.

If you are playing a game when you get banned it is 50/50.

I personally got banned turned my console off immediately and my saves were not corrupted on my non-modded console.

Just a heads up. This isn't 100% guaranteed to work as some people have said it works and some haven't, but it is worth a shot.

Also if you ever put your HDD back on your banned console it will corrupt it. This is a one time thing. You can never use the HDD on the banned console or else it will corrupt the game saves.

Imo it doesn't seem like you could get banned.. but then again with so many modded xboxes banned, who of those ppl (including me) haven't thought about this idea which the topic is about.. and who knows, maybe M$ can make something that can detect if the game saves are real or from backups...and then that would lead to GT ban even for life maybe...

This is NOT true or the way you worded it is a bit confusing

.....you should be able to play ALL your game saves on a Banned console just fine as long as you dont try to plug your HDD into another system

quick update:

I have been swapping HDD between my Modded (not banned) and legit Arcade and so far no problems to report. Only thing I should mention is as most of you know, you can NOT play games off the HDD that were installed on a different 360 then the one you are currently using.

Just played Tekken 6, MW2 and Ben 10 something on my probably banned 360 and no problem getting achievements over to my new unflashed 360 on Live.

So you have one HDD for each console and just move your profile around with the memory card? Do you have to recover the tag? or do you just put in the memory card and it automatically loads your profile?

Hey farrari, got a quick question for clarification (Im not banned yet)

On your BANNED 360, the games that you had INSTALLED to your HDD obviously dont run off the HDD anymore but were you able to run those same games from the DVD drive and resume all your SAVED GAMES or did you also have to start all your SAVES over?

The reason I ask is because I have about 12 games installed to my HDD with progress for each of them saved so I wanted to know if I got BANNED, would I now also lose the ability to RESUME those games too?

Also I read in another post here that a couple of people just actually had their save games become corrupted after a few reloads of it AFTER their BAN (and they never tried to plug their HDD or load their profile into another Console ).....anyone experience THAT?

I have used this setup for about a year now. I have one modded (1.41) console, and one legit console that I swap my 120 gb drive between. I would have never modded a console if the drive had not died, the drive is spoofed so I figured it would be banned eventually so I never put it back on live. Later I got a good deal on an unmodded console which I know is completely legit since it has been sent in for the RROD by me once already.
I do use the modded to play mostly legit games in another room of my house, I have played very few backups on it. This setup has worked fine for me so far but I'm still worried now with all the talk about save game corruption. If I start a game with a legit copy on my unmodded console and then move my HDD to the modded console and play the same legit copy could it corrupt my data? as far as I know the modded is unbanned since it has not been on live in over a year and it was unmodded then. Could they possibly release an offline ban in the future?

I am not banned but I know it doesn't matter even if you go from legit console to legit console game installs only work on the console they were installed on.
