Restore Hdd Installs With Nand Numps?

You dont want the xbox powered up while it connected.
You just want it plugged into the wall for power but not turned on.

Then you run nandpro from command prompt.

use this thread for your help.
http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=690493

Just you dont want to do any of the writing back or writing xell.
You just do the writing of your backup once you have been banned to re-enable the hdd.

Read what I said, You dont want the xbox powered on while you have the lpt connected.
You just want it plugged into the wall so the nand has power going to it. Once its powered on you cant read from it and if you try the xbox will turn its self off.

then in command prompt you want to run.
NandPro lpt: -r16 nand.bin

It should then test the ports and come up with a flash config and push enter to continue.
The flash config needs to match a certain number. I cant remember which number.

If you get a error or the wrong flash config number you need to use the diode or remove the 100omh resistors because you have a 3.3V lpt port.

If you still get a error or wrong flash config then theres something wrong with your soldering or your computer LPT is too new and is done over software instead of hardware which causes problems.

Also while its reading because you got the above correct it can take up to 45 mins.
You might get a few errors but more then 10 then theres something wrong with your LPT and you need to try anothing computer.

Also its advisted to dump the nand twice and compare them in hex to make sure that it dumped correctly.
So errors are acceptable aslong as both nands are the same when dumped twice because its a error in the nand thats ment to be there.

Restore Hdd Installs With Nand Numps?

i got a very late start, but i made some progress.

first, i soldered all of the wires carefully and triple checked that each connections was in the right place. (unfortunately, i had to use some old wire because i could not find all of my supplies.)

then, i also made sure all my connections are solid with a 12 led flashlight and magnifier.

finally, i tried to dump my first nand with an old xp laptop, but no love... nandpro gives a fatal error with all of the possible bios settings.

possible issues:
1. this notebook's lpt port is on a proprietary replicator so it could be 5v
2. the old wire has been used for another project and could just be bad

tomorrow, i will try the same console with an even older desktop pc, but that is enough tinkering for 1 evening... if it still doesn't work, i will go buy the solid core wire and a diode. then, i will do the same steps with a different console to see if i get different results with the same computers.

thanks for all the help you have offered majinsoftware!

Also remember your xbox needs to be pluged into the wall so it has power going to it, But dont have it turned on.
And make sure port95nt.exe is installed. It comes with nandpro.

check & check - thanks again

thge more i read about this hack, it seems like their is a need for a modchip that does what i am trying to do here. it would need to have at least 2 backup banks that could be compared, but the solder connections are easy enough... a cool feature might be for alternate banks that could somehow read the info needed (from a backup bank) to be able to boot custom scene released nand images on the fly. is that what infectus does?

Theoretically though, you could continue to change the keyvault each time a ban occurs, correct? But regarding a manipulated keyvault, are they randomly generated or do they need to be extracted from another console?

Just trying to understand how things work. smile.gif

Technically... They would catch on and start banning Macs as well... but then your back to the same thing... just changing macs and keyvault.. lol

didn't work so I took out the 100ohm resistors. Still didn't work so I put in a switching diode.  Now its reading as type this.  Should I put the 100ohm resistors back in to prevent damage?

i received a different fatal error with the second computer - something about the portio driver not being loaded properly - and i think the problem might be that i have installed a different version of portio on that pc for both wii modchip flashing

will try to get that software working before i spend more time with a soldering iron on another console - i am almost positive that i have an acronis backup image of the hdd for the second pc before i ever installed portio32

OK, I know the JTAG is not needed to read the NAND, but is it needed when writing to NAND?
