Restore Hdd Installs With Nand Numps?
« Reply #15 on: November 07, 2009, 04:44:00 PM »

You cant use another xboxs nand dump.
Each one is unique with a cpukey. If you know the cpu key you can make a new nand image but only way to get cpukey is by running xell if you have a old dash.

You dont need to have the j-tag wired up.
You just need to use the LPT wireing to dump the nand.

What do you need to backup the nand? Is there a guide how you can do this via usb?

I got a new xbox, my old one hasn't been banned yet.  Last time I went on it with live was back in august.  I figured I'd see if it was banned today, but then I thought about this thread, and within a second of turning it on, I turned it off.  Now to make a nand dump.

can any of this be ommitted because jtag isn't needed?

How does one do it with usb?

Dont know how to do it with the usb as its too expensive for me to try but here is a better pin out.
http://www.free60.or.....s-jasper).png

Dont bother with the coloured wires they are for the j-tag.

Then once you have the it all wired up you need nandpro.
Then follow the nandpro instructions.

NandPro lpt: -r16 nand.bin

save nand.bin in a few safe places.

Once you get banned

NandPro lpt: -w16 nand.bin

and it will write it back to xbox

thanks majinsoftware! searched for "usb 360 nand dump", but all i could easily find was references to infectus2. is that what you mean by expensive? i will assume yes.

also found this wiki page...
free60.org / Reading_out_NAND?title=Wiki / Reading_out_NAND

it appears everything i personally *need* to know is in your post majinsoftware, but this wiki page has a bunch more info and some tips for others who may be interested in this path.

i am sure that i have most of the required parts for this hack so i plan to check my boxes after watching the fights. i may have to take the diode from something else(might run out to ratshack or fry's in the AM). i plan to do the soldering work tomorrow afternoon. i prefer to keep 1 of my jasper's as a non-xbl console so if infectus is the only reasonable way to do that, i might choose it.

I need 3 more 100 ohm resistors and a switching diode, but I should be able to report back tomorrow on how it worked out.

...Do I need xp for this or will vista work?

Dont know about needing XP, But I can confirm nandpro works on 98 and XP.
Also some xboxs dont need the switching diode. None of mine have needed it to detect the flash config.
And I also dont use the resistors as my LPT port is 3.3V instead of 5V like all modern ones.

All this should be covered in the free60 thread. If you need to ask for help or more detailed instructions.

Nope dont think xell is out for jasper yet, They have only really gotten the falcon to work so I guess thats the main concern of them at the moment.

Almost all of the 512mb jaspers came pre-patched against xell so its probably not a high priority to get it working eather.

freeBOOT v0.01 - Xbox 360 8498 Rebooter for JTAG Hack
>> Ikari released the first version of 'freeBOOT' for xenon (v1) and falcon (v3) consoles with JTAG/SMC-Hack.

This 'rebooter' will allow you to 'reboot' the 360 into an MS kernel after starting it with the JTAG Hack ... in this case (freeBOOT v0.01) it should reboot the console into MS kernel 8498 (but I assume 8507 will be possible too, and it's probably also the first step into rebooting into patched/modified MS kernels).
The readme says it requires the Cygnos360 v2 chip atm, I'm assuming they need it to automatically reset the SMC back to original.

My version D 2.0 8507 with (but I assume 8507 will be possible too) ant good for me and this hardware Cygnos360 v2 chip I'm just going to update my DB to the new version play my Backups offline on a Memory Card,

then put back the Original drive, HDD and Original Games. To much work not that I can't do the jtag but the money is not there so just play with the devil  muhaha.gif and hope M$ can't fine out that your using your Original Xbox to play Backups offline because then your playing with the devil  muhaha.gif

well ive just unbanned my brothers 360 using a nand backup and a spare keyvault. also changed the mac address to match using the config.bin  hopefully making it harder to detect the keyvault being swaped

told him to keep the thing offline untill its been confirmed why as i know for a fact every game he has was checked in xbgx

It would be nice if someone could make a guide how to unbann the Hd function.....Im not so good at modding xboxes and dont udnerstand nand etc. Another question, if i buy 2 new xbox 360s, one modded and one unmodded can i play all the games offline on the modded then just transfer profile update now and then thru a memory stick and not get banned? I mean they cannot ban my unbanned console??

cheers!

@majinsoftware

I've hooked up everything except the switching diode.  When I have it plugged into a computer, the xbox turns off or refuses to boot.  Also when running nandpro on windows 98 it closes out immediately.

Any suggestions?
