MS forcefully removes private chat from upcoming titles
« Reply #60 on: November 02, 2009, 11:49:00 AM »

the 9 year olds are half the problem with in game chat anyways. I have no problem with this new rule I have been on live since way before party chat and while I like being able to talk with friends I also feel it has made it harder to make new friends and it also sucks when I just want to play by myself becasue everyone is in a party. Only thing I need is a mute filter that would allow me to filter anyone under a certain age and i'll be happy.

What's wrong with just making you only able to spectate your own team mates when dead?

I hardly use the live mic at all, so I really don't care, but blocking any chat seems pointless. Serious gamers can still use the computer or even a phone to chat through. Even if the goal is to prevent players from giving away other players' locations, there are a lot of better ways to do this. They could even just block private chat between players in the same game, but still allow private chat in general.

I hope this is just a rumor, I don't think even M$ would be stupid enough to do this. There are FAR better ways to discourage cheating than to completely disable private chat all-together. IE only disable private chat if the players in the chat are on separate teams on the same server or disable private chat when a player dies, or only incorporate disabled chat into hardcore servers. Who the hell do these guys have making decisions over there?

Well this is just stupid !
There are plenty of other ways to stop people from being able to cheat via private chat.

But for anyone who pays for Xbox Live memberships for nephews kids etc. this is terrible because now those kids will be forced to listen to vulgarities from immature idiots who for some apparent reason feel the need to swear, make racial slurs etc.

I won't be renewing any memberships for my nephews anymore that's for sure.

 grr.gif

I do agree with you and a lot of other people on here on the fact that there are a lot of retarded, racist, immature idiots on xbox live that should not have the right to speak through a mic. This is FACT!

Also I am sure that they will have some disable mic feature for certain people in these games that you can disable individually. (For people who are not promoting teamwork by singing or unnecessary mic disruptions will in a room)

Here is where I DISAGREE.  smile.gif

Certain games like COD Modern Warfare 2 and other alike games are Violent\Adult Games that SHOULD NOT be played by a KID. That's why games come with ratings like "M" that the kids ELDERS\PARENTS always choose not to follow (Movies are the same way). In the Military there is Swearing, Racial Slurs, Violence, Killing etc. You can only expect games like these to attract people who enjoy this. THE GAMES THEMSELVES HAVE SWEARING BUILT INTO IT BY THE DEVOLOPERS!

The developers of these types of games are also just trying to better promote Teamwork by Making people on the same Team talk to each other and work together which is what the game is all about in multilayer online mode. I know I speak for a lot of true gamers that hate when you got guys on your team that are not talking to help complete the objective and goals of the team. Talking improves the overall experience of the game and restricting chat to only team members helps stop cheaters that are dead yelling out locations of live players to their friends of private chat.

Also the over racist retards don't bother me because I am an adult and they are just words from idiotic people. So teach your kids how to deal with it cuz that's how it is in games like these. I know how to block them out. Also if the F word slips out when i get killed then I should have to worry about some 9 year old's feelings getting hurt. I am an ADULT and the game is rated for ADULTS ONLY FOR A REASON. We should not have to watch what I say because there are children in the room. Granted Racist remarks are not a good thing but I am mature enough to pay it absolutely no attention and in fact just laugh when people bring it out..(YOU WOULDN'T LET YOUR KIDS HAND OUT AT NIGHT PARTING WITH OLDER TEENS AND ADULTS SO WHY WOULD YOU LET THEM PLAY VIOLENT ADULT GAMES WITH TEENS\ADULTS?)

SO, You wanna protect daddy's little 9 year old's precious ears and feelings?... SIMPLE!

  1. Take away his mic when playing violent games rated for adults that attract adults

  2. Buy them a Wii. "That is a more child friendly system) With games like Spongbob or Wii Sports Resort.

  3. Don't give them games rated M (That means MATURE if you haven't noticed)

You are the parent and are responsible for knowing what your kid is playing. Quit  blaming developers for forcing your kid in an adult environment. You already did by letting them play these type of games

If you feel you need to cancel or not renew your live subscription because of certain games that do this feature  then you are losing out on the complete xbox live experience over a feature in a game.

Just my 2 cents  happy.gif

Fantastic news. Cry it off cheaters. Here is a simple solution: party up, mute everyone on other team, play the game. you wont hear what they say, they wont hear what you say... thats private chat. Only difference is u cant cheat. If thats still not good enough, vote with your wallet and dont buy the game... lol, what a joke

strait from ms (sorry for the rant come ms and iw why)

Start a Party
Choose a Topic

Sometimes you want to play a game and sometimes you just want to hang. You can use parties to do both.

Let's say that one friend is playing a solo game, two others are in the middle of a multiplayer game, and a fourth is watching a DVD; with parties you can all talk to each other on the same channel.

All of the people you want to chat with need to be signed in to Xbox LIVE with a Gold membership. To talk, you'll also need to use an Xbox 360 headset, though you can just listen through your speakers if you want.

but i guess we can take features any from you any time we want tongue.gif even if you been paying for live since
beta live over 6 years ago now come that's got to count for something ms. i pay for all the new experience
but i do not want to pay too have those taken away  grr.gif
that one of the best features and promotes more game sale when friend talk about games to each other
renters etc might not believe there friend that the game is great and i wil;l rent and talk to you about it
when we play in a party so we not bother others.
Plus is this not what founded  xbox live in the first place consumers voice in the beging all we had was
talking to each other and that led to word of mouth aka hay man the voice on live works great and
works the same every time i am telling you should get man get and xbox with you will love the voice clear as a bell  biggrin.gif  ps they might take there voice back cause cheaters its a game people there will allways be cheater that will not change a thing.

do you relay think in this economy we want all our friends to go by more xboxs and new gamer tags just to use one xbox as a voice chat sever so friend don't have to listen to the annoying one bad comments trash talk
etc all the relay reason we play in party chat that messed up and not worth it for one game even mw2

So please patch this ms and infant ward  you guys are on the for  front of the gamer world and always have made great choice thats why were all  here in the first place.
so please i beg you don't do this to us.
Do the right thing and fix for all gamers alike a heartfelt good day sir
from you friend - the gamer - customer   pop.gif
ps do not make me want to puke lol

This is ridiculous. The whole reason I even use party chat is so I don't have to listen to the immature idiots that always sing into the mic or blow my ears out with static, if M$ just banned them then I wouldn't even need to use private chat when I play the same game with my friends!

The other reason I use it is to talk with friends who are playing other games. That sounds so greedy to me, that a game developer will only let you talk to people who are playing the same game as you, and won't even let you talk to people who are playing a different game. If this is true I seriously doubt I will even play MW2 online.

I mean the reason I even pay for xbox live is for the features, if you take away those features why should anyone pay for it?

your argument is invalid as long as the cheaters have an internet connection and/or a telephone. There are hundreds of different ways the cheaters will continue to cheat.

This blows my mind? So what if people give out locations to other teammates....just adds fun to the game for me. Say I'm playing a clan and I'm the only one left alive in hardcore and I kill one of them. I know they will tell their buddies, so I move and kill the next person as they run over to where I was at. This is a massive rule for something minor and I hope it is just a rumor. This takes away my buzz for my preorder of mw2.  sad.gif

It's too bad they can't just have MS employees patrol the games at random and shoot electric surges through the consoles to annoying kids.

I hardly see your point. The cheating issue is widespread and will continue to be until its not something so easy to do. In fact I think your point is invalid. How many people you think have their 360 right next to their pc, or would be comfortable giving their phone number to random ass pub players... now compare that number to... well everyone who has an xbox. Really? Hundreds of ways to cheat? riiiight. Seems like a great way to solve the problem.

I usually just talk to my friends about, life, girls, money, stuff etc. I have never cheated using party chat. I don't want to talk to all of the ass holes in game chat.
