Somethings is going on.  I was just playing Fallout 3 and i was disconnected from live.  So i go to the dash and no luck. Reset the 360 no go.  I then test my connect.  It wouldn't get past the internet step.  I reset my router then it wouldn't get past the third step.  I reset one more time and log in.  I get a pop up (i hit ok to fast to remember the message something bout still being able to go on live) and all that was left on the dash was my xbox and friends list. Anyone else have this encounter?

I was banned last year during the GoW2 ban wave.  So i don't even burn a game until its out.  I have had no non-released games in my new xbox.

So, how they know that I am playing a backup or legit Forza 3? My console is fine, only account was banned. So, assuming that they know the forza 3 that I played, wasn't legit, why they don't banned my console, instead of banning my account? This is a STUPID and NONSENSE ban.

And TO HELL with the lost revenue in piracy. M$ has a lot of money, I don't live in US and here in Brazil games are very high priced. About $120 for one game.

So because you can't afford the price of games it should be OK for you to steal them? Is that really your argument? You agree to the terms and conditions when you sign up for a Live account and you know the consequences of playing "backups" on Live, so why does this always happen during a ban wave? There's always someone looking to shift the blame from themselves to Microsoft, but the only person to blame is yourself. You pirated a game and played it early when you don't know whether it's a good rip from a retail source, you got caught, now you're paying the consequences. Suck it up and take the responsibility. All the moaning in the world isn't going to change a thing.

You know people like you make me sick. You know how many times I bought a console from Wal-Mart only to find out some scum bag like you did this very same thing and I get stuck with it?

Not only is it a crime but it is also against forum rules here and I hope you get banned from here as well as Live. You have over 200 posts here I thought you would know better.

like i said im not condoning it
i never even said i did it  in fact im still on my 1st ever 360 so shove it smile.gif
i do know people who have done that though but thats besides the point
personally if i were you id be mad at walmart for reselling something there not suppose to

anyway if i overlooked the forum rules thats the only thing im sorry about
my philosophy is i would rather provide some solution than nothing
because not mentioning it i would be just like one of those A-holes who says to google everything when a question is asked
forums are for discussion and i know that if i had hundreds of dollars in dlc that id atleast like to know that theres a way around it (shady or otherwise)

We heard you the first time, Fraudy McFrauderston.

Just kidding, I don't understand why some people get their panties in a bunch over your advice. You were just trying to help!

Yeah - that happens to me sometimes - it normally happens to me when someone is using all the bandwidth on my network.
The message probably said something like, 'some xbox live services are currently unavailable' & they will be available shortly.

good on ya m$ for the ban hammer.. on apersonal note tho,if i were you,, i would bad the consoule, there gamer tag and there credit card.. put there full name on the xbox live black list!!!! keep xbox live clean.

I don't really mind about my live account being banned, I only have 2 weeks left on my Gold membership and I don't care about Gamerscore so I can just create a new account, but I would be very annoyed about a console ban!

If I am not connected to the internet is there any chance of being banned? I would love to play Forza before my pre-order arrives next week!

To many cry sissy's. Play the game when it comes out pirates. You all deserved to ban and I hope your console gets banned as well.

I've been wondering this too but I don't think anyone can really answer it with certainty.

I too have a pre-order but couldn't resist playing it early but luckily I didn't connect to live, now I'm just wondering what to do now.  I think one option is to format the hard drive (or if this isn't possible just get a new one).  I don't mind losing my save game or the achievements I've earned so far, the only thing that would bother me is losing a vinyl that I've created but I guess its a small price to pay.

I have played forza 3 early. been playing for about a week.  Every time I play I have the internet disconnected. I have not been banned. Is everyone getting banned or just random people?

if formatting the hard drive works that will save me buying a new one. Any takers?

forgive me if im wrong, but in the past microsoft has always erred on the side of caution with banning people for playing early, in case of people with legit copies. but if they are doing this, it makes me think that they have a new much more effective detection method, any ideas?

I'm not sure about that as there are reports of people with legit copies being banned too, I think one of them was a journalist who got his copy from a Forza 3 press event.

My guess is that they are just banning everyone who is playing early. If they were detecting that these were backups, they would ban the entire console. Take this quote from Stephen Toulouse: "Don't worry folks, anyone who bought a copy early is ok. In general, if you got a receipt, play away. These are illegit copies we're hitting." They will just plan all prelease players and then if they hit any legit purchasers, they can dispute with their receipt and get unbanned
