The emails people get say "permanent suspension" which equates to permanently banned.

You agreed to their right to cancel your account at any time for any reason when you signed up for live, read the fine print next time.

Console bans just hinder the user until they commit fraud or sell it, then they get a new console and start over.  So MS hits you this time where it hurts your live account.  Be happy its only a account ban, sure it sucks losing DLC and such, but hey next time maybe you will be more careful.

yup...people should be lucky they didn't get both a console and gamertag ban at the same time...

Seems that account banning would've come first, especially before stealth patching when M$ could still detect legit games. It's not like getting a new 360 is a big deal. I'd rather lose my box than my entire account.

Maybe its only a gamertag ban for now, say because MS cannot really detect legit vs burned copies, so since minimal amounts of people should have a legit copy so they ban everyone playing it early, so the people who actually prove they have it send in receipts or whatever proof they can provide.  Then MS wait a few months after people go out and buy new live accounts and have your xbox tagged and then slam you with a console ban and then they get you to spend another $30-50 on live and another new xbox around christmas time making sales look great.

^^ crazy conspiracy theory lol

Im banned till 9999 also. MS is just banning everyone who playes early from what ive read all over the net. They r saying show a reciept to get unbanned. They dont know who is playing backups and who has the original. what a bunch of F@#ks. They r banning everyone. if they knew who had illigal disk they would ban the console 4 sure, but they dont. They r at thier wits end I bet. I think the wave 4 disk r to try to slow people down with ixtreme. Game wont boot so it cant b played. NOT! use the activator disk. I think if you have a pirated copy u have the bann coming to u, but they shouldnt ban anyone 4 any reason if they cant prove it. Also there is no mention of playing games early in thier ToS. They shouldnt ban on those grounds either. They just know that if someone has a pirated copy they will take the ban and move on. thats why they r doing it. anyone here with an illegal copy gonna make a fuss to MS about a profile ban? I sure as heck wouldnt. just make a new profile all your DLC should still b ok to work with new profile as long as that banned profile is on the same hdd. thats how its worked 4 me anyway. also any new you Dl from them should work on banned profile. I used profile editor 2.0 and Super resigner to move all my saves to new profile. I used modio to find all the ID's i needed. just drag and drop the profile file from each profile into it. you c the id's worked just fine 4 me. some games wouldnt give me the achievment popup though some only gave me partial credit. personally i dont care.

Because your profile is more valuable to the pirates then being able to connect with the console. They didnt ban any accounts that had low gamer points and no DLC, They only did it to people that acturally use there profile to buy things.

I would be more pissed off about losing my profile then my consoles live access.
If the console got banned id just use one of my older ones. If my profile got banned thats all my DLC I payed for, my gamer score and friend list gone.

yeah thats where i was at I have many consoles but only had the 1 profile. consoles r cheap these days. lol Thats bad when a console is easier to replace than a profile. Over all I am starting to hate microsuck in general. they sell us junk console that red light for fun and charge us out the yang 4 everything and then try to make it so we can only use thier accesories. what kind of customer support is that? crap if u ask me. but oh well. games r cheap...lol

Im with BoNg420 on the conspiracy theory. they wanna lead the market or make it look that way around the holidays. One of the welthiest companies on the planet and thier still suckin us dry. Most of the gifts i ask for and am gonna buy this season will be from memorex (Ritek) so they'll loose out on that cash. wink.gif

they should be worrying themselves about gamer score hacks
there are some fellows with perfect 1000 gs on modern warfare 2 on gamercard.net
but i guess those guys dont hurt their bottomline as much so they let them go

Played it early after unplugging power and internet to reset the system date and time.  have not plugged internet back in since playing,  think its safe to sign back into live?  I dont think the system can keep time /date after being unplugged can it?  always takes the internet connection to update.

I know a computer keeps the time/date, but i think its because it has a battery built into the motherboard.
