not only will you be unable to play on live if you keep the old dashboard,  you will also be unable to play wave3 games (as they all have nxe on the disc as a mandatory update). i for one like the new dash, and the ability to play games from the harddrive is great.

also, as run mentioned, once you upgrade, your upgraded. there is no reverting back.
