Witch Port Is Used For Smb?

hi,

does someone know witch port is used for using smb streaming?

because my firewall keeps blocking it.

UDP 137, 138, and on TCP ports 139, 445

This is for win2k/xp

should be valid for 98/me too

someone know how to set those UDP ports on norton firewall.. I can only see settings for HTTP ports? And I can get smb working only when norton is disabled.

Dont use it... Switch to Zone Alarm, much better overall..

I remeber ZA 5 had a real huge CPU usage problem. Especially for those that fileshare. Did they ever get that resolved?

they will have almost certainly fixed it.  I dont use a firewall coz of my router but I found Zone alarm was easily the best.

[rant start] Norton and Symantec are the biggest virus to ever hit the planet!!!!  They make awful software that slows your PC down to a crawl, is expensive and impossible to get rid of!!!!!!!  Will never recommend their awful software [/rant over]
