Microsoft Game Studios today announced "13 Days of Gears," a special promotion that kicks off Feb. 1 in the U.S. where players can win fantastic prize packages every day for 13 straight days. Dozens of winners will be selected at random over the 13 day period to win "Gears of War" themed prize packages collectively worth over $25,000.

Registration for "13 Days of Gears" is now open and runs through Jan. 31 at www.xbox.com/wbgow and on Xbox LIVE. Players can register for the promotion through either method as well as access a variety of "Gears of War 2" content. Then from Feb. 1-13, all players need to do to be eligible for the day's prizes is to play a match of the predetermined "Gears of War 2" multiplayer mode for that day. Thirteen Grand Prize packages will be awarded (one each day), consisting of:
* A Samsung 40" 1080p LCD HDTV
* An Xbox 360 Limited Edition Red Wireless Controller
* A Marcus Fenix bronze statue from Mindzeye Studios
* A life-size Locust drone maquette from TriForce Sales
* The "Gears of War 2" video game soundtrack from Sumthing Else
* The Gears of War Aspho Fields novel from Random House imprint, Del Rey
* Codes to download the golden Hammerburst and Lancer
* A "Gears of War 2" poster signed by members of the development team

In addition, five daily First Prizes will be awarded, which will include the soundtrack, novel, in-game golden weapons and a signed poster.

It would take a lot more than a crappy promo to get me to waste my time playing Gears of War 2's terrible multiplayer. It's probably THE worst online experience I've ever had with a 360 game. I'm tempted to sell the LE copy I got on eBay along with the unused codes it came with (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) . The patches Epic recently released to fix some of the glitches were a complete joke and actually managed to make the game worse. This is a US only promo anyway so I couldn't enter even if I'd wanted to anyways (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) .

Is it's multuplpayer THAT bad? I haven't got GoW2 yet. I guess I might not now... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Gears of War 2 multiplayer isnt that bad at all. Its quite fun to play with a bunch of friends. I recommend trying out Horde online or local with buddies (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)..

C'mon Microsoft. Where's the events for the UK, Europe and other territories? We seem to pay more for XBox Live, for less service and less special events. Pull your heads out of your ass and realise the US is not the only place you have customers.

IMO it really is. I was a massive Gears1 fan, I spent months getting all the achievements and played the multiplayer near enough everyday for 2 years. For the sequel though Epic have somehow managed to remove all the things that made the first games MP so much fun. I could write a big list of its problems but the main issues are lack of region filters, matchmaking waiting times (sometimes 20min+) and extreme lag, not to mention the amount of glitching, quitting and standbying that goes on. These are just the main issues but there's a lot more. If you check out the Epic forums you'll see they're flooded with complaint threads.

The single player campaign is pretty good but nothing ground breaking. Horde is a good laugh too but that gets boring after a few plays. This is just my opinion but I say save your cash if you wanted Gears2 mainly for its MP.

gow2 multiplayer was just as good as the first but i think all games are pants now as i have little big planet fever.

whatever. seems like a desperate way to get ppl to play GOW 2. I loved gears 1 and was the only game i played. heck check out my youtube gow 1 snipe vids. thats how good it was, and still is. I still play gow 1 all the time as do lots of others as well. I think gow 2 has fallen to like 4 or 5 on xbl. getting killed by COD and Halo. This wont get me to play gow 2 anymore. the MP IS THAT BAD!!!!! Like an old saying goes, if it aint broke dont fix it. Too bad cliffy b and the others at epic dont believe in that

I love gears 2 online. Gears 1 sucked because everyone cheated all the time. It's not nearly as bad in gears 2. Standbyers suck at life but other than that it's not too bad. But that's okay with me!!! You guys don't register and i'll have better chances at getting that 40" plasma! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

GOW 2 only problem is standby? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Only complaints in GOW 1 were really host and active down sniper. There are glitchers in every game. GOW 2 is broken and thats why many have left and gone back to 1 or COD or Halo. The real good players at GOW 1 knew how to win in any situation. GOW 2 is a chainsaw, nerf shotgun, lancer fest. O yeah and the LAG IS UNBEARABLE.
