are you less likely to get banned using ixtreme 1.5? yes

are the checks that would make the difference being done my ms at the current time? no

my point is that at the current time you are safe with 1.4, but any day you could turn your system on to find out the ban scheme was revised. no modified firmware is 100% safe, but the 1.5 is safer.

Just wondering,

Has anyone actually experienced a ban from LIVE whilst using 1.5?

Iv'e heard that MS are checking discs not firmware at the mo, but i take everything with a pinch of salt seen as no one knows anything for sure.

Just curious though, I can imagine you might if your discs aren't stealthed properly, but if your like me, i thoroughly check my backups first (stealth, CRC check etc) before using them.

Do anyone know of a 1.5 banning whilst using good backups?

if you think about what you just said you would notice that makes no sense.

exactly how is ms going to check EVERY disc that goes into EVERY drive on xbl? especially with only a small difference between a backup and a original.  and also you cant play discs on 1.4 or 1.5 with discs that arent stealthed properly either.

but there have been no HELP I THINK I GOT BANNED!!! threads popping up anywhere so apparently we are ok for the moment.

actually, he is right. that is how the live detection works. they detect bad backups, and they do this by checking for special things on the disc.

@jon

i haven't heard any reports of people being banned using ix1.5
