nope, its an update for everyone. from what i heard there have been no problems with the firmwares or backups.

Whoa, chill. Cheater912, you gotta be careful or you'll scare people. Microsoft probably has the ability to see if your console is modified or not, but they haven't acted on it yet. My assumption is that they don't care. They're making money on Xbox Live and they are the industry leader. Heck, even modified consoles still have to buy Arcade games. I'm sure everyone will be ok, even with this update. I haven't seen many problems, if any, on the forums, so it must be going smoothly.

At the moment Microsoft have no way of detecting you have a modified firmware on your console(99.9% sure). The only way your gonna get banned is:

1) You have played an unstealthed copy of a game on your xbox.
2) You have played a game before is official release date and you are not on Microsofts list of allowed console ids to play that game. ie. You have downloaded it! tut! tut!

The checks are looking for dodgey media and not for hacked dvd firmware.
