I haven't connected to live yet this morning, should I then just leave my cable disconnected and wait a few weeks untill it's over?

I don't know why people always say disconnect your cable until it's over...it doesnt work......if you are going to get banned you are going to get banned...During the last wave of bans people was saying the same crap....unplug your ethernet wire and wait it out til a new firmware hit...I surely did it and updated my firmware...loaded up my xbox tried to connect to live then bam....instant ban....

That doesn't matter... You can't  rescue you with pulling out the cable and waiting till the BanningWave ends.

Good for them...try not modding your drive and actually pay for stuff. it's amazing how much better things are when we just pay for games. Sheesh Backups?? BS!!! if you go on Live, then pay for your games, it's that simple.
Uto

You can't group everyone together. Many people here who use backups own every game they have a backup of, and those who do otherwise are not welcome here.

Unfortunately, when things like this happen, everyone claims the same thing, and it's that much harder to solve (if the dishonest people are claiming they were honest, then they're remaining dishonest, and can't give accurate facts, etc).

Either way, when you modify your system, you know it could be banned; we've been spoiled by having XBL accessibility, and everyone thinks they should have the best of both worlds. I just hope MS isn't banning consoles on a "maybe" again (last time it resulted in numerous unjust bans).

Whoever put the post on the front page of xbox-scene.com should change the link to that one.

MUCH MUCH more active discussion going on there about the ban and the details of it.

Got a call from a guy I just modded his benQ (iExtreme 1.41) a few weeks ago and he was banned today (11/10/2008).  He was playing the Gears 2 release from 360inT and did not run Mulleter on the iso before burning it (if you run the Mulleter fix against it, it will patch it).  He was also playing G2 well before release date while unplugged from xbox live.

I'll report any more bans that I hear of and try to put as much info in as possible.

I guess I'll know as soon as the NXE launches. I've got a BenQ drive with 1.4.1 fw only played backups with good ss. c4eva says he's going to be doing a live log in about an hour.

what was the original DVD drive in your xbox, and what is the new one if you've changed it?  Just from the previous posts here it looks like only samsungs are being banned, but it's still very unclear.

So far most if not all of the posts I have seen of people getting banned have been running the 1.4 firmware. Can anyone who's banned confirm that they are running the 1.41 firmware? Hitachi 0047dj with ixtreme 1.41 here, not banned.

Not banned here.

1.4 firmware and no clue what my drive is. I have always been smart about playing unreleased games on my memory stick without the internet or HD plugged in and I always check my iso files with mulleter.

Original: Lite-On DG16D2S
New One: Samsung MS 28

And it's not just Samsungs, seen reports of BenQ's being banned as well.

You can still do a live connection test and get status codes with the NXE installed.

I think a lot of the people stating 1.4 are just not being specific and are actually running 1.41.
