Can't Play Divx Unless I'm Signed Into Live
« on: September 27, 2008, 01:26:00 AM »

My friend can play DivX videos just fine if he isn't signed in, but I can't. It tells me the content is not supported, or something to that effect. My console was replaced by RMA in January, RROD. Does this have something to do with it? I know you can't access DLC and such without being signed into Live if you're not on the console that originally downloaded it, so I thought maybe this was a similar issue.

Is there anything I can do? I use my 360 to stream DivX video from my PC, and when Live goes down on Monday I'd like to be able to view my videos still.

Thanks.

Hi

This is a common problem and has to do with DLC/DRM restrictions.

What to do:

1. Create a new Xbox Live Silver account - anything you like, since you'll be deleting it afterwards.
2. Sign in to Xbox Live once created.
3. Start to play something in divx.
4. When prompted, press OK to accept the download message.
5. Select the option 'download again' from the list.
6. Once finished, sign out of Xbox Live and try playing the content again.
7. If all is well (and you have no need for another Xbox Live account), you can delete the Xbox Live account.

Thanks, man! I'll definitely give that a shot tomorrow when I have some time.
