Dns Failure?
« on: September 03, 2008, 01:17:00 AM »

Man, I was connected earlier today playing EA Skate on XBL, and now when I try to connect, I have to go to the test section, then once Im in there, I'll run the XBL Test and I'll get to where it says DNS and then it'll say Failed. So I Power Cycled everything, tried again, nothing. Manually put in the DNS, nothing. I dont know what happen. Any info? Thanks.

When you manually set the DNS did you use the gateway's IP for the DNS or did you use the actual DNS IP's from your ISP.

Both. I have it ran directly to the Modem using the stock Ethernet cable.

Hmm, I have the same problem sometimes but I just power cycle my WAP and it works again. (thats netgear for ya)
I can remember I had a problem like this (cannot remeber exactly what it was failing at, but it was failing network test over and over and I tried everything) after countless calls to xbox nothing ever got solved.
I eventually tried reseting the console to its original state and it worked after that. That is about the only suggesstion I can give you. Because if you have the correct DNS information, there really isn't any reason it shouldnt work. But it does happen and it leaves you scratching your head.  uhh.gif

Well Im about to give it up for a while. Maybe I might just connect my 360 to my PC, and then bridge the connections. How about that?

Did it start working when you bridged with your pc?
That would be pretty weird.

Yep. lol What I did was toss the gray Ethernet, grabbed my Crossover cable, wired my 360 to my PC Ethernet Port instead of the Modem, setup the IP for my 360 and PC to work together, then bridged the connection and now Im on XBL. lol
