Console Update Fails When I Try To Connect Xbox Live
« on: August 26, 2008, 07:48:00 AM »

I found a fix !!

I am replying to my own as others can benefit from it.

Initially this X360 was able to login to XBOX LIVE, so I have been confused about why is not working now since nothing has changed in my network.

I remind you, the same Ethernet cable and connection works fine with another X360 sitting next to this one, I am able to login and play Xbox live with no hiccups.

Why?? you ask...I do not know, I guess no all the XBOX's are created equal.

I decided to buy from Amazon.com Actiontec POE Ethernet adapters

They come in pairs and need to be connected directly to the wall outlet, they will not work if you connect them to power cord extensions.

This 2 units use your house Electrical wire as a way to connect to your router wherever it is to have acces to the internet.

I own a router with 5 10/100 ports.

So it goes like in this order:

++Internet / Broadband Box => router with 5 10/100 ports => 1 Port connects to the Actiontec Megaplug => the actiontec Megaplug connects to the nearby Electrical Outlet => in the other room , wherever you Xbox 360 is, connect the other ActionTec Megaplug in a nearby electrical outlet, then connect the Ethernet cable from the ActionTec Megaplug to the Xbox 360.

No setup is required for the first 2 units.

After all my connections were in place, I booted my Xbox 360 and did a connection test, after the test it offer me an Xbox live Update and installed it with no problem, and I played Halo 3 for 3 hours without a hitch.

I hope it helps.
