Yes, you just need to set up internet connection sharing. If you are using XP just go to your netowrk connections folder, right click on the your connection and go to properties, there should be an option regarding internet connection sharing. Tick that and save the hanges. then plug in your xbox to the laptop and it should work.

N.B. I think your laptop should be on before you try and connect the xbox otherwise it does'nt work (it happens to me).
