there most likely isnt as many *known* wankers on PSN as theres less people chatting, but that doesnt mean there not there. they will always be there, no matter what online service your on, whether its a forum like this one, a chat room, or a gaming network.

My 360 just got the red ring of death so I'm sending it in.  I complained and they gave me a free month of xbox live service.

This will be my 4th xbox... and if they keep it up at this rate the law of averages says I'll get a free month every year.   tongue.gif

My 360 is named Roxanne, by the way.

AirGibson's post is very informative and developed in such a way that it's broken down into very easy to read examples of why some people have a problem with XBL. Very nice post AirGibson!

My xbox live subscription ran out today, i have no plans to renew.  I love the 360 but will no longer pay to play their games online when i can play them for free on the ps3.  also i play mmo's on my pc and must pay for that which i can understand.  if the next xbox system still charges for live i won't even get it, sure i'll miss out on some great games but with so many good games on the pc and of course the next playstation will have good games too i will have plenty of options to not have to worry about xbox.  my way of thinking about games has really changed.

Bottom line: In my opinion, it is an unethical exploitation to deliberately limit game-play in this manner simply to make extra profits.  The fee is largely a mechanism for making extra profit by forcing you to get nothing more than a permission slip from MS to play a multi-player game using your system, your game, and your bandwidth which you have already paid for.  Call me crazy, but I am not interested in purchasing "permission" from MS.  Unfortunately, there is almost no alternative.  If you want to do internet multi-player on the 360, you pretty much have to purchase their permission.
If MS must maintain dedicated servers for a particular game that I am paying, then I can understand such a fee.  Fortunately for us, even though we are being exploited, at least we are being exploited for a relatively small amount.  However, just because it is a "small amount" doesn't make it okay.

Agreed 100%
What else is not okay? advertising to me on MY console wiothout my consent and no way to disable, that's BS.

Sorry, didn't want to go off topic, but its crap that they are selling space on MY games blade to advertisers.  On the live blade, fine thats a service, I don't have to go there if I don't want, but not on my games blade, that should be mine.
