I just went into membership info screen and changed all the credit card info to bogus info Ie name street and card number not to mention the  verification 3 digit code and it saved over old real card data.

well, the worst is stillt o come!

i rang M$ up a few weeks back about my mums credit card info on my console.
(i don't have debit/credit cards cos im shit with money!)

anyways, they had done to me the same as the guy a few posts up, they had renewed my year subscription, and also added the xna creators club, even though i never went near it!
BUT THE BEST BIT!? THE EXPIRY DATE ON THE CARD HAD PASSED, YET THEY STILL PROCESSED IT!

when i rang them up to find out exactly how they had done this, they explained that it isn't the credit card number they store on file, it is the account information relating to that card. So, even if your card expires and you forget about it, they can still take money from your account for "upgrades" or "renewals" whenever they like.

i reported this to watchdog recently, who replied saying this wasn't an isolated case and they were "looking into it"

so, in short, if possible, try to buy all your M$ points or live subs from a shop, rather than add a credit/debit card! at least until they let you remove them anyways

Other then your Credit card number and normal account information like Name, address, Phone #,  which you provided, what "account information related to that card" could anyone possible use to charge a credit card?  Explain that.

Something tells me your story is a little more exageration then factual.   Credit card processing does not work that way and not even Microsoft can actually do what you claim they did.

Don't they charge bank fee's in the UK?  Here we would get screwed I can have 0 money in an account and if somone charges to it I get hit with a $35 fee for EACH transaction.  I alot more then the stupid $4.00 purchase would be.

Not if the transactions are fraudulent.

Which in this case, they clearly are.

Sure, you'd have a big headache sorting it all out, but in the end you'd get all your money back.

I am dealing with MS customer services at the mo, and they directed me to a web page i didnt even know existed.

Just hit up http://www.billing.microsoft.com/ and then log in with your live id and hey presto, you can view, cancel or edit your subscription and payment methods. There are a few help links as well so probs all the info required to remove any details will probs be only a few clicks away.

Hope that helps, you can also monitor points and see how many you have, what they are spent on etc etc.

I used that web page before to cancel a live subscription and it didn't work, I had to phone them in the end to cancel and they still managed to charge me for two months subscription after that. It only stopped because my card expired. The history was no use either, it didn't show any of my payments.

You guys want to know how I got around the removal of my credit card number from XBox Live?  Hear me out.. you will need a paypal account.  (No, I am not selling anything)

1. go to paypal and install the paypal one time use credit card plugin
2. go to http://www.billing.microsoft.com
3. generate a one time use credit card number from the paypal plugin and save.  (you can even have it fill everything out for you)
4. log into paypal and remove the credit card number from your list of generated cards.

simple. all in all took like 5 min.  a lot better than trying to find bogus cards because the address will still be tied to your real one.. this way it still get's validated by ms.  When you remove the card from paypal all will be complete.  You can thank me later.  biggrin.gif
