I got a different email, one offering me the free game as well. I registered my account years ago, sometime back in 2004, so it's not indicated by my sign-up date, apparently.

that's kind of what i thought after trying the trial, but my friend absolutely loves it so go figure...

still, can't hurt to publicize a free game to someone on the fence for membership...

So I could just create a new profile/gamertag on my Xbox and then I can have this game for free?. Is there a catch where you have to sign up for 12 months of gold or anything?.

^I know thats what Tural's email said but the article says "formally for recommending friends, but any user who has created a Gamertag since the twenty-fifth of this month can sign up" which suggests all I would need to do in order to qualify is set up a new account/gamertag.

6-8 weeks is a long time to wait for a game code!, wonder why it takes them so long?.

I recommend everyone tries it anyway.

MS gave away 2 arcade games a while ago. I didn't qualify under their conditions but I still got the codes for downloading them anyway.

Apparently, it applies also if you have renewed within that time period.
