Can't he just re-download the content? That should tie it to the s/n of the new console; his account is marked as paid, so he can delete and re-download. Is there something preventing this?

Its ridiculous that its even an issue.  It should be tied to the live account alone.  Im experiencing it now with my replacement box issue.

It's like this: Microsoft are idiots. The DRM thing for the 360, the many flawed PC operating systems, and my personal favorite: continuing to charge my credit card for Xbox Live AFTER I called and had the auto-renew cancelled when I got laid off. I was actually told the first time I called that it wasn't set for auto renewal, and that my gold account would automatically revert to Silver on Dec.1, 2007. After they tried to charge me in December, I called, was polite, and they hung up on me. After 3 months, they finally suspended my Gold account, which I refuse to pay for, since it was their damn mistake.

Anyway, back on topic. I thought the DRM was tied to the hard drive, because I can take my HD, put it on my friends 360, and still use all my downloaded content, except XBLA games, which I don't have any of.

hmm, i don't get what the problem is. i've had 3 360's, each with a different serial number and all of my xbla and all other purchased content works just fine as long as i'm connected to live. any content i've purchased on my current 360 will work on or offline. only the old content requires me to be connected to live. so, i don't see what the problem is. unless you don't have an internet connection but why would you have downloaded so much if you don't...

To play that stuff offline whenever/wherever you want? unsure.gif

Surely it's embarassing for them that as a software company, they can't handle DRM transfers on an internet enabled platform. They need to hurry the fk up and fix this.

I can't understand why such a relatively small problem isn't taken care of swiftly by the Xbox Live or associated teams. How was this even missed to begin with??

Because THEY ALREADY HAVE YOUR MONEY!!! DUH!!!

Call me ignorant, but wouldn't it have just been easier for microsoft to just give him x amount of points equal to the value of his past purchase so he can just repurchase everything?

No, BECAUSE THEN THEY WILL NOT MAKE MORE MONEY FOR YOU TO REBUY ALL YOUR STUFF!!!

Had the same problem, RROD,Brought New Console, all arcade games went back to demo's unless I was signed-in.

Thankfully I still use xbox live,so arcade games are ok, but the moment I cancel my live account all my games will go back to demos.

At this point I will contact M$, and if they don't reinburse for all my purchases, or unlock the games to my new console(Which I had to buy because of there shit design), I will be seeking legal advise.

I have called like 30 times now, spoke with different people, and 1 higher up (non Indian) What makes me mad is that i tried to get attention with  consumerist and they did not wright back. last month they told me by the first of this month it would work, lies,,, the lies. Now i call just to kill time, I know they won't take care of it.

You should be able to go to Account Management>Download History and re-download all content.......

For all of you who got a diff 360 back, try that....

That still doesn't solve the DRM issue/let you play your games & extra content offline... they give that advice over the phone SO many times....

Also it's useless to have points given back to you to re-download the stuff since what you download is saved to your download history. It's basically like they're giving you free points to get something else you haven't downloaded yet

what a coincidence, i just got hit by this issue about a month ago now.
sad.gif   i hate to say this but i think its time for another law suite. (and i really hate to say that)
M$ is just never going to learn sad.gif  its like hurry and get the product out so we can compete and if there are any issues, well just let the consumer flip the bills....
i will say this, no matter how this all gets resolved.  I will never buy another xbla game again.......
and this will probably be my very last M$ console ever...  i am done with all the M$ crap...

its exactly like someone else posted before, they dont want to fix it, because they want us all to just rebuy everything at a nice profit for them.  probably so they can say how successful the live service is...

So what the heck is this person's issue?
I've had my system replaced like 6 times now and I've never lost my data!

Of course, if I'm not connected to live, I can't get my stuff!  Is that what he is bitchin' about?

I am surprised no one has tried taking this up with their credit card company.

If I fell into this boat, I'd be calling Visa and dropping chargebacks on everything I purchased within the last 6 months.

Hitting them in the pocketbook like that will make them take notice.
