« Reply #45 on: December 29, 2007, 09:23:00 PM »

whats up all. ive been having problems too. at boot up, i sign in to live just fine. but when i put in a game, it disconnects from live. i have to sign in again. if i exit the game, it signs in again automatically. weird. sometimes it just signs in and out a few times in a row.
for a few weeks now it always says 'cant sign into messenger.'  oh well. i was glad to read its a problem because at first, i thought i was getting banned  jester.gif

Ok, so maybe they deserve (given their track record with live at least) a little slack.....

However, im sure our reaction will dictate how they handle issues in the future. Like the one guy said, in the TOA it states we aren't entitled to anything if we have problems (which IMO is garbage)  with a service that we pay for. Sounds like Vista.

Microsoft owns (generally speaking) the computer industry and are starting to take over the video game industry. They are introducing patented technology into certain vehicles. I think i read on here once that they had bought a company that specializes in producing television sets (or something to that effect).

Its clear that they are becoming more active in fields other than just computer electronics and software. But, what happens when they throw their endless abundance of money into those fields? Will we in our lifetime see the first Microsoft car or TV? And when everything has a microsoft stamp on it, and it fails, will we be screwed out of compensation due to the TOA we were forced to agree with due to lack of choice? Im sure when they achieve their empirehood, this is the way it will be....

Trying to recover my gamertag last night was a pain, and i sympathize with the guy who couldnt recover it fully to have the ability to play games offline. After reading a little bit,  i saw that it is a windows live, xbox live, and zune problem.....all the eggs are in one basket so to speak. After i googled the error code my 360 gave me when i wasnt able to retreive my gamertag, i saw that it is also used for windows live messenger when you cant sign in. Sound familiar?

This has been happening for a week now. Its still not fixed. If they had it fixed tonight, id expect at least a free week of live. Im in the IT feild as well and i know servers crash. It happens. Why dont they just throw their money at it like they did with the 360 hardware failures? Anyone remember them trying to downplay that until too many people had the same issue and came forward with it? I dont want to be in the microsoft car when the servers go down....

When dealing with a company like microsoft, its important to remember that the past is a blueprint of the future and reaction dictates action (and visa versa), otherwise well be sol due to the TOA...im done ranting tongue.gif

hmmmm, maybe thats what happened to my friends account. he even had to send his xbox in, and they sent it back saying the xbox was fine, it was his account that got screwed up.

he has had his name since xbox live beta, and is still fighting to get a tag!!!

the least they could do is give him a tag to use temporarily.

cheap bastards.

Well after 45minutes ( If not more) it appears that the Terms Of Agreement
 prohibit compensation.
I find this BS. If my cable is out or not up to par, I can call my Cable company and they will credit me for that month.

Christine #9S9G from the billing department says as per terms of agreement we are not intitiled ( she was very nice and just doing as instructed)

Either way, XBOX LIVE owes use ALL 1 MONTH CREDIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

COD4 Issue earlier
now since the 21st this crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

XBOX LIVE although not as per their TOA should credit all those effected.

for me I guess I will go play Unreal Tournament, Not becuase I am some PS3 fanboy, Live is better when I have it, but becuase I can Play!
If I multi billionaire can try to solve malaria ( A noble cause) you would think he could keep the people that are giving him the money online?

Yep, section 16 of the Terms of Use, you have to accept the service as is. In reality the service isn't expensive. Lets say if you service was out since the 21st compleatly, it comes to about $1.09 lost. Hell, I've spent more on a shitty tasting coffee, thrown it out just to buy another one from the same coffee shop a few hours later, all with out phoning a 1-800 number to complain, and bitching about it on the internet.

Your right no one has right to decide what people post (looks at a mile long list of people banned for posting there opinion on this forum). As for constructive criticism i think they should grow some balls and charge people for the service and get some income behind it and make a real online service and not  a small half arsed one.

The bit in bold is just your cheap shot. A poor attempt at a pop at site policy.
Your second point . You are not in a position to give experienced constructive criticism. You don't have a PS3 and have not played online with it

what rock you come out of psn had so many issues it was sad. utter slowness and i mean slow people on dialup where downloading faster then you could. timeouts the shop crashing or bugging out. and probably alot more i don't know

Exactly you don't know. You listen to internet rumour and here say and spread it round. You don't play the PS3 on it regularly because it doesn't have the issues you just listed.
I have both and yes the XBL is the better service for the the sheer features and content (I don't use many of them. I go on live to play against someone. Not chat to someone else whilst  I am gaming against another person) The downloadable stuff on live is vast compared to Sonys offering but the fact is the PS3 has a good service to simply connect and play COD4 or whatever. I have experienced no problems when using it for this purpose.

MS is too busy trying to get their ban hammers working correctly (so they can ban all the evil modders) and not paying attention to the systems they should be. I know this is just coincidence but didn't all these XBL issues start around the time of this last ban wave? I really don't do much of any online gaming with any of the consoles, but what is so much better about XBL then the PSN? For those who've used both, is XBL really that much better that it deserves $4 or $5 a month?

I have both.  Live has some fundamental features that are missing on PSN.  In a nutshelf on live you are always connected with your friends no matter what you are doing, you can always see what they are doing.  So you can chat away even whilst playing different games, send voice or text messages, send game invites for firends to join etc.  If an invite is accepted the player joins in seamlesley.

The huge thing here is that it is universal and STANDARD including Voice, thus works the same across all games and is always fully supported no matter how crap or hot the game is.  Xbox essentially is a multitasking machine always running these services in the background, whereas the PS3 is just like consoles of old (or DOS on PC) - where once you load up a game you are pretty much stuck in there, everything else shuts down and becomes unavailable.  If you want to invite a friend to a game or just communicate - you need to call them on the phone!  IN THE YEAR 2008 !!!!??? pathetic.

These simple things pretty much make or break the online expereince as far as I'm concerned.  The PS3 is a very poor system in this regard, and as such it gathers more and more dust daily as my 360 is where the action is!

Peaople that choose PS3 instead of a 360 are really doing themselves a disservice, and they probably don't even know it.

I never said it was expensive, thats not the F***ing point! clearly they know they have issues and unfortunately a lot of these issues seem to happen around the holidays or on weekends.Lately there have been these issues more frequently from COD4 to this.

Its a service just like the cable company, I am not saying they have to refund a whole month to users , I am just saying that it is the right thing to do as any decent cable provider would.

As for calling to complain, I thought that they would do the right thing and refund the month, plus I can listen to music and watch TV while on the phone.

As for bitching about it on the internet, This forum more specifically this thread is the the proper place to bitch and moan about crappy MS service. If I were posting on DOGWORLD.COM or something I could see your point but since it is in the proper thread on the proper forum, I disagree with your assessment of the situation.

P.S. I don't drink Coffee

Why don't they just come out and admit that Live has been hacked and be done with it....instead of sidestepping the issue with mindless, numbing and senseless techno blabber bs

Yea I would have to say Live has been pretty good.  If you also look at it this way paying for live give M$ a reason to fix the service ASAP.  Unlike other free networks if they go down I bet it won't be anything like how fast M$ usually fixes live.  I mean I can remember M$ is usually on top of it once they know the problem is there.  Yea I miss out on a few live games but I always have my PC/DS/Original XBox to keep me busy.  smile.gif
