Thanks for looking in to this topic, hopefully you can help.

I have recently bought a used xbox 360 from a wel known online auction and I am unsure of some things.

Firstly and most importantly, whether it is banned from xbox live or not. I have just about spent all my cash now buying the console and 12 month live subscription and need some help.

I was hoping someone could give me a free xbox live trial so that I can test whether it is banned or not from xbox live.

As well as this big ask (and believe me I appriciate it) I wanted to know, if a console is banned from xbox live, does that mean, both silver and gold accounts?

Is there a way to find out if the console is banned from xbox live without using a code and thus, starting the count down of my 12 months subscription.

So generally, can someone either tell me how to check my used xbox 360 is not banned from xbox 360 without a code or can someone please give me a 48hr trial code. Of course, both together would be better but i'm not one to be greedy and I highly respect the xbox-scene community, myself being a keen xbox modder.

I can't help you with a trial code, but I'm pretty sure if the console is banned the "Join XBox Live" button on the first 'blade' won't work. The XBox Live test from the network settings screen will fail too; again, I'm sure (but not certain) that this will work even without a valid XBL account.

yeah if ur banned a silver account doesnt work either, so if u are able to sign in to live even with a silver account then you're not banned.

Exactly what the other guys have said... if you can connect to Live at all for dashboard, game updates, downloading demos, etc.  Then you are not banned.

You do not see a gold account to tell you you are fine.  Just try connection with is free and see if it works.

You don't even have to make a silver xbox live account to see if you are banned or not.  Just go to the settings blade and select network settings and then do the XBox Live test.  If you complete all the checks there, then you're not banned.  If one of them doesn't pass, click on more info and if you have a Z code:  8015-190D then it is banned.

Can someone give me a tip as how to make a silver.

I have never really used xbox live but for the little I did I didn't ever see account options (as in, buy gold or get silver).

When you create an xbox live account... it is a silver account.  It will be clear when you get the box.

if you select *initial setup* from the system blade, your console will walk you through making a live account and it will also very likely offer you a free month of gold. do that before using your 12 month code...
