There isn't much regarding the XBL data and network libraries.  There is more information containing system link data and network libraries.

free60.org is a  good place to start information gathering regarding dissecting XBL networking information.

packet sniffing is a good way to start data gathering as well.

Kai / XBConnect - connect peers by using system link connections (not XBL) so im not 100 %, but i dont think the dev's for that software will be able to help you much with the XBL protocol etc.

XBL console sign-in information is authenticated using Kerberos, i think v5, can't remember.
