I've been reading some other similar threads, and I'm guessing from what i've read..I can use the other PSU from my PAL XBOX.

If someone could just clarify, and also;

-- I'm not really sure about EITHER of the XBOX versions. IF in fact I can use the PAL psu in the NTSC Xbox, does it matter with regards to version?

Hello again.

I've been doing some more research.....and someone gave me a great idea, I just don't know whether it will work.

As I said previously, I saw the idea of putting the PAL (UK) XBOX Power Supply in place of the fried NTSC one.....if this can be done (which i'm pretty sure it can now), would I then not need a converter, as i'd be using the UK PSU?

So then I could just hook up my regular UK Power Lead?

That'd be GREAT. Talk about saving me a LOT of hassle.

You can swap the power supplies with no trouble.

there are three versions of power supply.
1.0-1.1
1.2-1.4
1.6a-b

The 1.2-1.6b all have the same conector, so be sure not to confuse the two. There is a great guide here on the scene that will help you identify your motherboard version.

Note: My NTSC xbox is 1.0, my PAL xbox I THINK is 1.3.

If you drop a 220 power supply in your xbox, you will no longer need the converter.

You can modify a 1.3 power supply to work on a 1.0 board, but you will need to use the connector from the dead supply and follow the guide in the tutorial section.

On a side note, the fact that the box is NTSC or PAL is not an isue when it comes to the power supply.
The diff between power supplies is weather they are 220 or 110

The NTSC or PAL refers to the video output and can be changed with programs like config magic.

You can also buy replacment supplies online.

I won't be able to use my 1.3 PAL PSU by the looks of it because I don't have the tools to convert it to 1.0 etc.

Shame. I guess my only options now are to get a new PSU and stepdown converter, or grab a different XBOX and sell this one. Trouble with that is, not many people in UK are going to want an NTSC Xbox minus the Power Supply, I guess. And it'd cost a lot to ship abroad.

sell the mobo, case, dvd, all seperate. best way of doing it. you obviously wont get your money back, but youl will go closer. dvd drives sell for 80aus each, that and teh mobo would get yout the most.

have a look on ebay and see what price ppl are sellign the parts for
