My 1st X360 crapped out, so i bought a new 1 a couple of months back and at first i was able to chat via headset, but have not been able to for the past month or so? I started to think it was my system or headset, but a friend of mine has the same problem....He can chat with some ppl & others he cant. We both can txt, send voice msgs etc. I have 3 different headsets, and 6 controllers...I've tried them all.

Only thing i can think of is that my last console was registered with Xbox.com and i haven't registered this one. Anyone have this problem or know whether registering the system or not, makes a difference? Thanks

The registration of the console  should never have anything to do with how you can chat on xboxlive.
Sounds like a problem with live's service more than anything, or even your headset.

When in doubt consult MS Customer care.

Interesting....Do you know which ports would be for chatting? Cause i can basically do everything else on Live, even stream from MC. The chatting used to work when i first got the system, this just started happening recently. Could it be my PC firewall and not necessarily my router?

Thanks a lot for the help. It wound up being something with my router. All i did was set the router back to its default settings. I remembered that my girl bought a laptop & HP was telling me to change all these settings in my router in order for her to connect wirelessly. Anyways, all is well now...Thanks again
