update will be available on some game discs. but whether it will insall on a banned console, who knows, i would imagine this one will... but try it.

I think its impossible, without live, there is no possible internet connection period (to live, to get updates, xbox to pc still will work, I think). So that means, no updates.

You can goto the xbox website and look around as you can donwload the firmware updates on there site.

The ban only bans your console ID from live service, it does not prevent updates to console.

Is this a fact? Seems like we get updates through live... then again, it doews sign you out when updating. I'm confused.

Xbox.com has the updates. Spring one is not up yet, though. You download them and burn them to CD-R and put it in the 360.

I'm more concerned about game updates. Lots of games have bugs that are fixed with updates, and as far as I know there is no way to get these without Live.
