360 Connects To Live, But Fails Update.
« on: January 21, 2007, 02:54:00 PM »

Here is my situation.  I have been accessing XBOX Live with a dial-up connection via a crossover cable to my PC.  It's pointless for games, but I used to be able to download arcade games, picture packs, updates, etc. it just takes forever.  My last successful update was the small one or the "1080p fix".  Now when I go to get the next update it fails every time.  Now I know that I am connecting since it signs me in and even tries to update, but my problem is downloading it.  I have also been able to access YouTube streams and other scripts via XBMC with the same set up, even though the XBMC settings still says there is no internet connection.  (this may be irrelevant)  I think this could also be a problem with my PC since it stopped working before and worked once I reinstalled Windows.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here are all my network settings (Windows XP SP2)

Local Area Connection
IP Address: 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.2
DNS Servers: 195.159.0.100
                     195.159.0.200

Xbox 360 (Manual)
IP Address: 192.168.0.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
Primary DNS: 195.159.0.100
Secondary DNS: 195.159.0.200

XBMC (Dashboard - UnleashX)
IP Address: 192.168.0.2
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
Primary DNS: 195.159.0.100
Secondary DNS: 195.159.0.200

NOTE*  My 360 and Xbox are never on the network at the same time.  I use one crossover cable going directly to my computer and just change it out.

ahh. thanks a lot.  I remember reading somewhere that you could only download the emulator updates so i didn't think you could get the system update.  But thanks again.
