Something similar happens to me, every game I try to play crashes after a minute or two, then the red ring of death comes up when I try to start my 360. Manage to start it up again by pulling out the video cable and putting in back, but still crashes when I try to play games, works when I watch videos on it though.

Anyone else had this problem? This never happened previous to the update today.

Try it without your HDD in mate this might be the same issue!! if it still does it ring M$!

i updated yesterday and no problems for me with my unmodded 360. altough it is dissapointing to see that they havnt added the analog sound option back in cause im still missing half of my sound due to this

forgot to add that xbox live has been a bit laggy for me lately and since the update theres alot less lag

Yup, I'm having the same problem. Sometimes it will boot, but after a few minutes (even at the dashboard), the screen will become garbled and the system freezes. Rebooting just gets the red rings.

This is on a stock machine that's been working fine since April.

anyone with a nme chip tried the update?
dont suppose it will make any difference at all since the chip is off unless you got a backup inside, but you never know

You were blaming the updates a few posts ago.
Faults and problems are not always related to updates from XBL.
