2 360's On The Same Router
« on: October 19, 2006, 01:49:00 PM »

i have 2 360's hooked to the same router.they both show a strict nat so i port forwarded the one and the nat says open.the problem is that when i'm on the one that is port forwarded, the other 360 can't log on to live.can i have both 360's hooked to the same router?they are not using the same gamertag so i don't think that's the problem.

Well you've got to get around the firewall. For a cheap fix, set the 360 that can't connect as DMZ. That should allow both xboxs to get on live, but I'm sure if I were looking at your router's options I could figure out a better way.

Whatever issue your having, you can certainly rule out any problems associated with using multiple Xbox's on the router, if that helps you at all.

Unfortuneatley in this case it IS his router.  Get a dlink or maybe the newest linksys handle PAT correctly.

thanks for the help guys.i had an extra router sitting around(linksys rt41-bu)so i hooked it up and guess what, both 360's have an open NAT and i can go on live with both at the same time.i left all the settings for the router on default with no port forwarding.i guess certain routers can't handle multiple 360's.

.i guess certain routers can't handle multiple 360's.

it just certain routers handle PAT (port address translation) correctly and certain routers don't.  Most older linksys' didn't while the Dlink's did.
