Okay, they dont offer DSL in the area that we live in (trust me i'm working on that part).  So at the moment, i'm on dial up, and i also want xbox live.  i got to looking around online and found the tutorial on how to make it work, and i tried it, but halo2's lag is out the yinyang crazy.  my ping is always riding on the red part of that meter while playing in game.  I was just wondering, if there was any kind of dial up accelerator out there that would even attempt to make this connection faster.  Will someone please help me out here.

You could try Onspeed.

On speed wont work. Its a special compression tool made for compressing websites so it wont be suitable for games.

Did you look into satellite internet?  Kinda sux for games because they limit your upload, but at least you can play it here and there without killing your ratio

Have you thought about Cable?
Or maybe Fios?  Fiber Optic Service from Verizon?  It starts at 30 bucks a month, I believe... 2 mb upload I think love.gif

And yeah... running your own cable would be very, VERY bad....

Don't use dialup on live, you will ruin the game for everyone else.

there is a reason why you have to do all kinds of strange tricks to make your dial up connection work with live. 56k just is NOT enough bandwidth to make online gaming work on modern games, especially with halo 2. there is no trick you can do to get enough bandwidth, all you can do is call all the cable/dsl/fiber optic providers in your area and see if any of them will be in your area soon.

Sat. won't work because of the ping and the compression tricks used to obtain "broadband speed".
For now you're stuck.
Check on WISP providers in your area.  Where I once lived, they still don't have DSL/cable.  But they DO have Wireless Broadband.  It's speeds are GREAT and very low latency as well.  Maybe that is offered in your area?
