Connecting Xbox 360 In Dorm Problems

yeah, what you said about the router is exactly true. you can go into your routers settings and define the mac address as whatever you want.

i belive the xbox360 shows the mac address in the network settings somewhere under the system blade.

You have to be careful though.
Some colleges do not allow routers... only use the connections they have.
I just don't want you to get in trouble, so check with this before you set up a router.
You might have to Bridge Connections/ use Internet Connection Sharing from your computer to use your 360 then.

At Clemson, where I go to school, they say you need to register everything and don't allow routers.  If you take your Xbox, PSP, etc...to the computing HQ, they will register it for you and let you use it no problems.  I would check with the computing department, because they may do something similiar.  It would save you some money and time if they will do that.

Yup, I'd do what he said.

i know in Umass where i go, they "don't allow routers, wired, or unwired", but everyone had them and the rule was not enforced. i even personally had one in my room and no one ever said anything, it even passed room inspection. i'd personally say see what everyone on your floor is doing.

i don't think it is possible for them to see the router (i could be wrong though) to answer that question, from my understanding they will see that a device is plugged in with a specific mac address. all of your computers/xbox's that are plugged into the router will have their packets broadcast from the router, so it will look like the router is making all of that traffic on its own.
