Why would you want it to be effected? What's wrong with playing backups on live if you own the original game?

I can give you the reasons why but it would lead this post way off course and is for another thread really.
I will not hack the firmware for those same reasons. Its not difficult to figure out.

Really so if say an online casino needs maintenance they take down everything and loose money while they upgrade servers.

Thanks

They would be down to a minimual amount of servers id imagine....i think if the live network tried that though they would be overloaded and the servers would end up down either way, something tells me that the live network has ALOT more traffic then most online casinos out there

Well, the firmware is out there ppl can play "backups" yes it is a matter of time till M$ bans ppl playing these burned games but right now they r playable so deal with it. A lot of the admins on X-S dont like it when stuff like this comes out, but it does come out so we gotta deal with it.

Angry leprechauns or drunken angry leprechauns??

The drunken ones are so much harder to get rid off.

Who cares if an online casion can keep their service up durning maintance.
Without knowing exactly what is going to be done you can speculate as to why they need to take down services.

Its not like its a big deal, its only a few hours in the middle of the night or in the afternoon when you would be alseep or working or in school anyway.

I don't have to deal with anything. It means nothing to me when the step is taken. I will still be playing live whatever MS do. You are right on one thing for sure. Its coming.

Well my firmware is modified, and I do use my OWN backups, so it is not a big deal if they stop backups from being on live. Would be nice if I could use backups on live, since my DVD drive loves to scratch games but not a major issue.

BUT! I really hope they don't ban xbox's that used backups. I don't see them banning xbox's that used backups, because of the whole price point factor, ie, $300 system costs like $700, not usre on the exact amount.

My 2 cents.

also, all games are live aware plus the dashboard runs in the background, so this could greatly effect the impact it has when it does come. i personally think the live bans will be more harsh this time around (stuff such as having the dash detect and store a ban request if it can't connect to the live servers right away) making it more complicated then an on/off switch like with the xbox 1 mods. saddly if that does come true i'm not sure there would be a simple solution when modchips are available and homebrew is possible.

I do see them banning people using backups on Live. It's inevitable. MS is not going to sit there and let you do it. Plain and simple wink.gif When it happens there will be a crap load of whiny kids in here complaining and shooting shit at MS for being the big bad company and not letting them steal games..

if MS does*anything* about the firmware issue - they wont ban users from XBL. That would be suicide for them - they need as many Gold accounts active as possible.

most likely some kind of disc integrity check would be used instead as its really easy to compare an original from a burned disc.

I love that attitude. People here on xbox-scene seem to think everyone does the things they do. You guys need to realize you only make a very small % of the gaming community, especially when it comes to things like firmware mods. Now downloading games for PC of the internet is completely differnt, but opening a brandnew xbox and soldering the dvd drive. Wake up, and realize MS is not going to let you go online with copied games without getting banned. Did they let you with the orignal xbox? No, this is no differnt, you guys need to get over yourselfs.

You already paid for the Gold account. MS already has your subscription money so it's your own fault if you get banned and you can't use it anymore. Go read the terms of use for Xbox Live then come here and say they can't do it.
If they don't ban you're Live accont they'll ban your Xbox. They've been banning Xbox's with modchip's for over 3 years so it's no surprise to anyone. Actually I'd rather see them ban Xbox's than accounts my self since it won't be as simple to get a 360 unbanned as it is with the old Xbox.. cool.gif
