ok im getting my xbox 360 on april 1 2006

and my question is

does MS still let you sign up for a gold account when you first start up the console or do you have to purchase a xbox live starter kit??

the reason im asking is because when MS snnounced the 360 they said that the 360 will be compatible off the shelp with xbox live gold and silver and will have the option to sign up for the gold service when you set your console up for the first time is this still true??

yes its true, and you get a month for free, for up to three accounts

yes, once you create your profile you have the ability to make it into an xbox live account, you can enter your credit card details right there, or the code from a Live card/starter kit.

if you create a profile but it's not a XBox Live profile, check the profile options and it will give you the ability to make it a live profile, that way all your save games and achievements will transition over smoothly.
