Dns Problem
« on: March 15, 2006, 02:43:00 PM »

I get the exact same thing, it gets to DNS then says failed. My Xbox is running through my PC (because my modem is USB only). The address on the DNS seems correct 192.168.0.1 but it still doesn't work. Can anyone help? It would be much appreciated.

Btw here are my Xbox settings:

IP Address 192.168.0.154
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.0.1
DNS Settings Automatic
Primary DNS Server 192.168.0.1
Secondary DNS Server 0.0.0.0

My internet connection is shared and my network becomes active on my PC as soon as the 360 is switched on. Any clues?

The DNS relay feature on your router is not compatible with the x360.

You need to do one of the following:

1. Upgrade your router firmware to the latest version.
2. Turn off the DNS relay functionality in your router.
3. Hardcode your ISP DNS in the x360. To get this address check the information / status of your router, the number will something other than the 192.168.x.x number.

Okay I got the DNS off my ISP and had to shut down my firewall 100% to allow the 360 to go on live. Thanks for the help anyway.
