It looks like the latest firmware is the ORIGINAL firmware available for this router.

On your computer can you do a ping -t to ISP gateway while playing online? Get a good sample list and let me know what some of the average times are. You should be able to get the ISP gateway address by logging into the router.

Open a command line and type:

ping -t <IP Address>

I have two wrt54gs routers, and no problem with playing on live ...

What u could try... maybe u have tried this already.

1. Give your xbox a static ip
2. In the linksys router, set up a DMZ to the ip of the 360

Let me know if it works....

With kind regards
Marco

I tried the DMZ idea and it's still having problems.

I attempted to do the pinging method, but my cmd prompt is screwed up.  Whenever I try to ping ANYTHING, it just goes straight to the next command line without attempting to ping.

However, recent happenings have forced me to believe that something is wrong with my upload rate.  I know that my router is, somehow, limiting the rate of my uploads.  But I don't know where to look to fix that.  Any thoughts?

Get your command prompt issue sorted, try downloading filemon from sysinternals.com, when you type ping see what sort of error is generated.

Some ISP's throttle bandwidth aggressively and in a manner which causes extreme amounts of latency. Using ping would quickly determine where the problem is happening so that you could escalate your issue with your ISP or replace your router / patch cable / xbox, etc.

Ok, i went ahead and ran filemon while doing a ping for http://www.yahoo.com in the command prompt.  I took three screenshots of the filemon log for this cmd prompt process.  Click on these three links to view them:

Please let me know if you can see anything in this.

Those screenshots helped a great deal, ping.com in your c:\windows\system32 directory is not a windows system file, I hope it isn't a trojan or something. Can you rename it to ping.com.old?

ren c:\windows\system32\ping.com ping.com.old
dir c:\windows\system32\ping.*

 Directory of c:\windows\system32

02/11/2006  07:26 PM                 7 ping.com.old
08/03/2004  11:56 PM            17,920 ping.exe

If you have a ping.exe you should be able to ping again. If you can't ren ping.com then you probably have a rootkit or something nasty on your system, let me know how it goes.

When I type
ren c:\windows\system32\ping.com ping.com.old

in the command prompt, it says: "The system cannot find the file specified."

If I could sit down at your computer for a few minutes I would be able to tell you what the problem is, but at this point I would recommend that you reload your computer.

If you don't want to do a reload then try running rootkit revealer by sysinternals, you might also want to download autoruns and hide signed MS files. Do you have a virus scanner installed on your computer?
Also check your path, under System Properties, Advanced, Enviroment Variables. You should have %SystemRoot%\System32 in the list, if it is filled with lots of oracle JRE locations you may need to delete a few of them, remember to delimit with ";".

I found the Environment Variables portion that you were talking about.  However, I don't see anything regarding a "%SystemRoot%\System32" anywhere.  Although, I do see a couple of references to Oracle, as well as MS Visual Studio.

Try adding it to the beginning of the list. Can you type path on the command prompt and let me know what the response is?

I THINK I did what you want me to......I'll let you be the judge of that.

Those are my results when I type in "path" in cmd.
