Since all of you guys like the gamerscore so much for your sake I'd rather live in a unvierse where the gamerscore exists. That's only for you guys though, it doesn't do anything for me. You may like it to compare achievements, or to congrat people on a job well done. That's cool. And I'd agree that it probably does give people some more replay value. You go through Condemned, beat it, now what? Go back and find all the birds and metal pieces, etc. That's why I'd rather have it than not, so you guys have replay value.
For me however, it's not because I don't get anything from it off of Live, it's what I might get on Live. I don't play online much and when I do I have not encountered an asshole yet, but I imagine in a year when gamerscores get really big and mine sits at a lowly 2-3g's I'm going to find some. But who cares, they're assholes.
The other reason I don't like it is because I do kind of like unlocking achievements, but I don't like many aspects you need to do to unlock the achievements. I just want to play. If finding the birds in Condemned isn't necessary, then I don't want to do it. It makes the game to slow having to walk around a big empty area just in case there are birds or metal pieces. I have the weapon I want, I've got health, but now I have to go looking for birds. So now that I have gamerscores, I have a reason to go do all that extra shit I don't like in games, but rather not have to.
But that's my problem, and that's why I've made the decision to forget the gamerscore and just play the games the way I want to. I'm not going to unlock achievements purposefully. If I stumble across an achievement, cool beans. Otherwise, it's just going to force me to play in a way I don't like and get frustrated in repeating tasks to get the achievement.
You guys like it though, and gives you positive feedback, and gives you something to do, and improves your play experience. So I'm glad it's there for you, because I can ignore the negative aspects it has for me.
