Xbox 360 Ics Connecting Problem!
« on: December 04, 2005, 01:16:00 PM »

Hi

Just got my 360 the other day and i'm still settin it up. I mamaged to get it connected to my comp to share the internet connection, and it was working fine.

The problem is that i can connect to Live through the dashboard all fine, can go to the market place and download stuff, but then I load up PGR3, and as soon as it gets to the menu, bam! My modem icon goes from green to yellow, which means its initializing. Disconnects me from XBL and I can't connect my comp to the net again, have to restart the computer to get on the net again.

It was fine for about a day but then I turned it on and it just started doing it.

My nic card is set up for...

IP 192.168.0.2
Gateway 255.255.255.0
subnetmask 192.168.0.1

DNS 192.168.0.1

My broadband connection is set up for dhcp on everything, and so is my 360. Could the firewall not be letting PGR3 use all the ports or something? I've got no idea, I've deleted all my network connections and re-installed everything.

It passes all the XBL connection test on the settings part of the 360 dash, and the media test.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

A home router like a dlink 604 is only like $20, you're much better off with this.  Any case I think you made a typo

PC:

IP 192.168.0.2
Gateway 255.255.255.0
subnetmask 192.168.0.1

DNS 192.168.0.1

blah, if this is on the computer that is sharing the connection it should be like this

Ip: 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: (not set, this is the gateway...)
Dns: not set

And i would set the IP on the xbox Statically;

IP: 192.168.0.3
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1 (the computer..)
Dns: 192.168.0.1

Seriously though, think about a dlink 604 or similar home router.
