Impossible To Make Account?!

ok so im tryin to get my gamertag back and it says to sign on i need a passport network account. so i go ahead and start to create it. the first thing you need is an email address, though its impossible to put on in because the use of symbols is disabled! wtf. has anyone else had this problem?

sry im retarted. i just noticed that its not under symbols, but right there in the letters. foolish of me to think MS would make such a mistake
