AT&T to Support Xbox 360 MMO Games -- Posted by XanTium on November 4 23:02
From teamxbox.com:

AT&T announced today it has won a $9.5 million, three-year managed hosting contract from Microsoft Game Studios (MGS) to support various online experiences and the infrastructure for massively multiplayer online role-playing games. The online games include the latest for both Windows and the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.
Multiplayer online games, where tens of thousands of users play simultaneously from points around the globe, have emerged as one of the most sophisticated, bandwidth-intensive applications on the Internet. Multiplayer games have stringent requirements for real-time communication, dynamic applications and near-100 percent availability and reliability.

like i said in the other topic...

this is good news indeed, why even question it? im not sure how MS will handle actual MMOs but i do know that AT&T will also be hosting the servers that run spectator modes, the first being Gotham TV. so without AT&T i dont think spectator mode would host as many people unless MS hosted the actual servers themselves which in the end may have effected the price of LIVE.

this may benefit us in the end actually, think about it this way: MS will have MMOs of their own (they already secured the rights for a marvel MMO and the rumors about true fantasy live resurrecting) and if all of their MMOs are hosted on AT&T they may give the option of only paying one fee across all of their MMOs. i believe whatever company that made City of Heroes and City of Villans is doing the same thing. if you pay to play one you can play the other with no additional monthly fee.
