For the last time you don't get any lag over wireless!

You only need your network connection to be as fast as your internet connection and as long as you don't have a 54Mb internet connection there will be no lag.

That would be good, yes. However I would have got one with the built in modem too.

I have a wireless router/modem built in and it has been great, 5 wireless PCs and an xbox (by wired) enryption and mac filtering so people have to use my PCs to get onto the network and I can connect anytime, no dialing, just straight on with my notebook anywhere in my house garden, nextdoor or across the street. The range is great.

And with the transfer rate at 125Mb (unreleased 802.11e) it is as fast as wired networking.

I also stole from my neighbour until I got BB and wi-fi. When he tried to access me I put on enryption. It was his fault for being so ignorant to wireless sucurity.

The amount of sucurity breaches when it comes to protecting the queen and such is worrying.
If they can't stop a guy dressed as an arab enter the prince's birthday party, a big box lablled BOMB into an army baracks or batman getting into the palace then it just shows what dumb asses they really are.

All those things happened by the way, just in case you didn't know.

da ya it is 54 mbs service why not, it just depends on how your actaul connection is as long as the wireless is wireless g or better thna it'll be good and fast. i dont think the 360 should use more bandwidth but who knows. and just so you know your xbox 360 isn't wirless out of the box microsft needs to grab 99 US dollars for a wireless adapter, i would just go with wired unless you cant do it.

DO what I'm doing, go to your local EB or whatever and buy a long ethernet cable, then just wire it around the wall of your house.

u should probably go wired, but dont just go to a store and ask for a really long ethernet cable and get ripped off. make one, buy cat-5 cable, and rj-45 connectors. it will cost a lot less

Wireless is fine. I have had it for a year now and have had no problems at all.

You won't get lag because it only has to be as fast as you internet connection and you don't get interferrence, well if you do just change the channel.

actually in gaming if u are using wireless much of the lag is from the wireless... esp if ur more than a couple rooms away from the router...

first off, ozy, I'm glad that you are getting good results.  I'm sure that when you are connected wirelessly, your speeds are similar.  I have dealt with xbox live using linksys wireless for xbox, MS wireless for xbox and wired ethernet.  There is a difference.  The deal with wireless is that the signal isn't constant, in a matter of speaking.  Better put, a wired connection is more constant than a wireless one.  Wireless drops more packets consistently more often than wired.  Xbox live checks for line speed, which will show up as great on wireless, but in reality, the experience on live will be different.  If you have a fast connection from your isp, you may get picked as host and not notice.  Or if you have been gaming wirelessly all along, you won't realize what you're missing.  A higher percentage of my games over wired go well for me.  Much less lag and missed shots.  I checked my stats on halo2 and could see a distinct difference in my performance in wireless vs wired.  Anyway, just be aware that latency and down/up speed are not the only factors that affect the gaming experience.  The best solution is to put your modem and or router/gateway next to your xbox and wire it.  It will be cheaper to get wireless for desktops than for the xbox and computers will be less affected by wireless.
