Will Service Improve?
« on: September 23, 2005, 02:45:00 PM »

I'm living at a college dorm. The connection on Live is sad. I'm showing one red bar all the time. One time I was suspended for no reason, even though I get my butt kicked 99% of the time while playing with this connection.

Does anyone know if the Xbox 360 will perfom better on Live? I'm hoping that the extra memory will help me play on a level field. However, with the higher resolution and detail, could the lag be even worse?

Obviously. At home I have great connection, but here I do not. I'm just wondering if anyone knows if a more powerful console can handle the connection better.

Has anyone else been suspended for having a bad connection?

the power is meaningless when your connection sucks.

you can only be as fast and stable as your connection, it doesnt get anymore basic than that.

Live service and support is already phenomenal for those of us who have good connections.

You cant ask for any better in my opinion.

Ive had Live for 3 years come November, and how many times has it been down? Ive never had an issue with Live. Thats saying a Lot for MS.

College dorms are the worst place in the world for online gaming. Everyone is downloading music, dvd's and pr0n 24x7. As a result the connection bandwidth is severly restricted, you have to compete with bandwidth hogs to get your packets out.

Yeah, this really sucks for you.  You might actually do better by using the wireless, but I really doubt it.  Although, you might be able to jack some frat's signal if you want with a little Pringle's Can antenna, some firmware updates, and a little homebrew antenna for your Xbox too.
